Description
The Department of Facilities and Construction Management at Jackson State University is seeking a skilled Painter IV to join their team.
A Building Services Manager is responsible for overseeing the daily operations and long-term maintenance of buildings and facilities. They ensure that facilities are functional, safe, clean, and meet regulatory standards. This role involves coordinating with vendors, and implementing strategies to improve facility efficiency and safety. Building Services Managers often work closely with other departments and external partners to ensure smooth facility operations.
Examples of Duties
  • Plan and prioritize work according to established procedures.
  • Direct daily work assignment of a carpenter crew.
  • Supervise and participate in carpentry work involving the building, repairing, refinishing and/or installing of office furniture, doors, door hardware, shelves and related items.
  • Inspect completed work for compliance with specifications and instructions N Redirect any rework or modification.
  • Assist in the development and motivation of staff through training.
  • Monitor and instruct staff regarding safety regulations and procedures.

Typical Qualifications
  • Under direction, plans and directs the work of carpenters assigned to various projects and work locations, oversee and enforce existing methods and procedures relative to carpentry on new construction, maintenance, and repair activities.
  • Minimum High School Diploma or GED; Technical vocational training related to job duties.
  • Must have a valid Mississippi Driver's license.
  • Ability to work from sketches and blueprints.
  • Minimum five (5) year carpentry experience with the ability to start a job from the beginning and follow through to completion.
  • Ability to lift up to 50 lbs.
  • Good working knowledge of power tools, saws, drills and other carpentry tools.
