Job description

To continue our standard of excellence, Piedmont is seeking a motivated, reliable professional to join our team as a Building and Grounds Lead Mechanic in our Maintenance Department. The primary responsibility of the position is to direct and assist Building and Grounds Mechanics in the cleaning, repair, and upkeep of the inside and outside of the building and surrounding grounds. This position performs activities necessary to maintain facility, lighting, plumbing, paint, and HVAC systems. The successful candidate will have a general knowledge of hand tools, basic carpentry skills, and basic electrical skills. This position will report to the Maintenance Base Manager.

Essential Duties:
  • Direct and assist Building and Grounds Mechanics with assigned duties
  • Maintain the appearance of company buildings, hangars, offices, and shops, both internally and externally
  • Maintain the company grounds, landscaping, and lawns
  • Perform activities necessary to maintain facility lighting, plumbing, paint, and HVAC systems
  • Maintain and improve facility cleanliness and employee safety
  • Perform carpentry, electrical tasks, and modifications around company facilities
  • Complete repairs and alterations to building exterior and interior
  • Clean properties, including parking lot maintenance
  • Basic maintenance of tools and equipment to perform assigned tasks
Job Qualifications and Competencies:
  • General knowledge of hand tools
  • Basic Carpentry skill
  • Basic Electrical skill
  • Basic Plumbing knowledge
  • Knowledge of prep and painting outdoors or indoors
Preferred Qualifications:
  • Previous experience with building and grounds maintenance
  • Post High School education in Civil Engineering (Carpentry, Electrical, plumbing)
Work Environment:

Airport ramp and warehouse environment, subject to varied weather conditions and elevated noise levels

Physical Requirements:
  • Frequent stooping, bending, kneeling, walking, standing, reaching, lifting, climbing up and down stairs
  • Handle objects up to 70 pounds regularly, up to 100+ pounds occasionally with assistance from co-workers or tools
