Job description

Description:

For more than 60 years, Tyndale has helped readers discover the life-giving truths of God’s Word. Today we’re one of the largest independently owned Christian publishers in the world. Though our business has grown, our mission remains the same: to open God’s Word to as many as possible in language they can relate to and understand.

Do you love the craft of editing and feel called to advance the gospel through the written word? As a Spanish Editor at Tyndale House Publishers, you'll help shape and refine Spanish resources that reach readers around the globe. This role is more than traditional editing, it's built on partnering with authors, guiding manuscripts from early concept to finished product, and holding every project to a high bar for clarity, quality, and theological soundness. To thrive here, you'll need strong bilingual instincts, sound editorial judgment, and the ability to juggle multiple projects with care and precision. This role sits at the crossroads of language, faith, and storytelling — a great fit for someone who wants their editorial skill to serve a larger mission.

What You'll Do

  • Edit and shape Spanish-language manuscripts for publication, making sure each one meets Tyndale's standards for clarity and quality
  • Guide authors through the writing and revision process with thoughtful, constructive feedback
  • Review manuscript submissions and weigh in on publishing strategy and editorial direction
  • Partner with copyeditors, freelance contributors, and internal teams to bring projects from initial concept to final product
  • Assess outlines and early drafts, shaping them into strong, polished manuscripts
  • Develop and maintain editorial materials such as style sheets, galleys, and supporting content like back-cover copy and discussion questions
  • Keep projects moving on schedule, flagging timelines and challenges proactively
  • Take part in editorial team meetings, helping drive planning and process improvements
  • Provide mentorship and support to fellow editors when needed
  • Represent Tyndale within the publishing industry and at relevant events

Skills and Qualifications Needed

  • Bachelor's degree, or equivalent experience in editorial work
  • 3–5 years of professional editing experience
  • Full fluency in Spanish and English, both written and spoken
  • Solid grasp of grammar, style, and editorial workflow
  • Strong knowledge of Scripture and evangelical Christian thought
  • Excellent communication skills, written and verbal
  • Strong organizational ability, with a track record of managing multiple projects and deadlines at once
  • Comfortable using word processing and editorial software
  • Experience with freelance editors and cross-functional collaboration preferred
  • Prior experience mentoring or leading editors preferred
  • Background in book publishing, especially Christian or Spanish-language publishing, preferred
  • Theological education or ministry background preferred
  • Personal alignment with and adherence to the Bible as God’s Word, and agreement with our Statement of Faith
