SUMMARY

This position is responsible for providing primary care services, including assessing and managing patients in the clinic following established standards and practices. DFL is a very unique practice promoting a healthy lifestyle with a group of professionals that include an Obesity board certified physician, Dietitian, Health coach, Personal trainer, Culinary chef and Massage Therapist.

DUTIES

1. Performs a complete physical exam, obtains complete medical history and records findings, orders appropriate laboratory and diagnostic procedures, interprets and integrates data to determine preliminary diagnosis and therapeutic plan.

2. Administers medications and injections in compliance with state law and clinic guidelines. Sutures minor lacerations.

3. Instructs patient/family regarding medications and treatments, educates patients regarding health and illness prevention, recommends community resources to meet patient and family needs.

4. Collaborates with physicians in managing acute and long-term medical needs of patients, provides monitoring and continuity of care between physician visits, maintains and reviews patient records, charts, and other pertinent information, posts tests and examination results, triages patient telephone calls and provides consultation.

5. Orders, interprets, and evaluates diagnostic tests to identify and assess patient's clinical problems and health care needs.

6. Records physical findings, and formulates plan and prognosis, based on patient's condition.

7. Prescribes or recommends drugs or other forms of treatment such as physical therapy, inhalation therapy, or related therapeutic procedures.

8. Maintains patient confidentiality.

9. Participates in Patient Centered Medical Home Care Team collaboration.

10. May be required to perform other duties as requested by Management.

Requirements

  • Master’s degree from an accredited Physician Assistant program.
  • Current certification by the National Commission on Certification of Physician Assistants (NCCPA).
  • State licensure or eligibility for licensure as a Physician Assistant.
  • Strong clinical skills with experience in infectious disease care preferred.
  • Proficiency in data collection and analysis related to patient care.
  • Familiarity with hospital medicine practices and protocols.
  • Knowledge of medical coding practices is a plus.
  • Understanding of public health principles and practices.
  • Experience working with geriatric populations is advantageous.
  • Ability to thrive in critical care environments with strong decision-making skills.
