Overview
The Physician II is responsible for providing quality medical care to eligible residents of Orange County and inmates at Orange County Jail. Supervises and manages Advanced Registered Nurse Practitioners (ARNP's) and Physician Assistant (PA's) and is responsible for ARNP protocols. Collaborates with administrative team on the medical management of eligible Orange County patients and inmates in need of medical care. Assists with the division's effort to provide quality medical care in a cost-effective manner consistent with budgetary and logistical considerations.
Work is performed with independence under the general supervision of the Medical Director and Healthcare Administrator and is reviewed through conferences, records, reports, and results achieved.
Representative Duties
- Performs medical assessments, evaluations and treatments to the inmates at the Orange County Jail.
- Conducts daily sick call and chronic care clinics. Orders, reviews and responds to all lab work and testing.
- Assists Healthcare Administrator and Medical Director in evaluation of Correctional Health Services employee productivity and effectiveness in meeting established job requirements.
- Assists in the division's effort to ensure that all aspects of the health delivery system are consistent with ACA, NCCHC, FMJS and other applicable standards.
- Provides, when requested, educational and informational in-services to Correctional and Correctional Health Services Staff.
- Supervises Nurse Practitioners and PA's.
Minimum Qualifications
- Graduation from a school of medicine accredited by the Liaison Committee on Medical Education (LCME).
- Must possess a current license to practice medicine in the State of Florida and currently Board Certified in Internal, Family Practice, Emergency Medicine or another board based Medical Specialty through an ABMS (American Board of Medical Specialties) approved Board.
- Completed residency training in Internal, Family Practice, Emergency Medicine or another board based Medical Specialty from an ACGME approved training program.
