Summary of Position:    The Assistant Baseball Coach must be committed to the Lordship of Christ. This not only means having the correct intellectual belief, but it also involves a radical transformation in every area of one's lifestyle. The Coach must continually seek opportunities to grow and possess strong character traits through the regular practicing of the spiritual disciplines (e.g., prayer, meditation, Bible reading) and develop ministry values that express what God can do in impacting student athletes with whom they interact.
IWU is seeking a full-time Assistant Baseball Coach to support a nationally competitive NAIA program. This position assists the Head Coach in the planning, organization, and execution of all aspects of the baseball program.
Primary responsibilities include on-field coaching and administrative support as directed by the Head Coach. Duties include but are not limited to assisting with practice planning, on-field instruction, position-specific player development and skills training, recruitment, game prep, scouting analysis, coordinating camps, and engagement in community and university initiatives.
In addition, this role provides leadership in advancing the vision, standards, and strategic direction of the program to help attract and develop high-character, competitive student-athletes who align with the mission of IWU.

The sport we coach creates the environment where that discipleship is possible. Duties and Responsibilities

  • Take the lead in the recruiting efforts of prospective student-athletes 
  • Assists with practice schedules, home competitions, team travel, and event management, individualized instruction, and evaluation 
  • Coordinates recruitment and travel

  • Possesses flexibility to work in a fast paced, dynamic environment

Education

  • Bachelor's Degree required

Experience

  • Must have some level of experience in coaching (college-level experience preferred), including recruiting student-athletes, marketing, scheduling, equipment budgeting/management, and facility care
