Description
Summary:
Reports to the Head Men's Baseball Coach. Responsible for providing representation of student-athletes of Alabama A&M University at the NCAA Division I level in Baseball.
Examples of Duties
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
  • Assist head baseball coach in organizing, preparing, and conducting individual and team practices, training, and competition.
  • Assist in the recruiting, organizing, motivating and counseling baseball athletes.
  • Assist with the tasks associated with recruiting: Letters of Intent (signing) and official visits.
  • Monitor the students' class attendance, study hall, grades, commencement ceremonies and travel.
  • Serve as a role model for student-athletes.
  • Discipline, monitor personal appearance, conduct, image and general behavior of all student athletes.
  • Recruit on/off campus and sign students for Baseball Program.
  • Supervise staff and students in the department, who are assigned to this program.
  • Acts as a consultant and schedules team travel, hotel, meals and etc.
  • Evaluate athletes on physical condition and advises them on maintaining maximum physical fitness for participation in athletic competition.
  • Serve as an expert in students' athletes and educate them on issues affecting intercollegiate athletics.
  • Assure that athletes maintain academic eligibility and records of participation are kept and forwarded to the proper agencies and authorities.
  • Provide the maintenance and accountability of equipment (i.e. uniforms, field equipment).
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Minimum Position Requirements (including certifications, licenses, etc.):
  • A Bachelor's degree.
  • Must have knowledge of coaching in high school or collegiate level.
  • Must have demonstrated successful experience in dealing with student-athlete academic related programs.

  • Knowledge of all aspects of counseling basic skills in intercollegiate sports
  • Must have strong interpersonal communication skills and be able to work well with others
  • Ability to communicate effectively, both orally and in writing and to present information in a clear and concise manner

  • Ability to compose and prepare reports, records and correspondence
