Nature & Purpose of Position
Graduate Research Assistant
The Graduate Research Assistant plays a crucial role in advancing the mission of the Center for Assessment, Research, and Educational Safety (CARES), dedicated to the development, engagement, and dissemination of innovative research and training in school and university safety. The focus areas include threat assessment, behavioral health, and educational safety, spanning from grade school through higher education. The graduate research assistant is expected to contribute significantly to the research process, marketing, dissemination, and training efforts in CARES, showcasing excellent communication skills and a commitment to supporting CARES in achieving its objectives. This position is grant funded and is set to end 08/2027.
Key Qualifications:
  1. Exceptional Research and Communication Skills
  2. Proficiency in Managing and Assisting in All Aspects of the Research Process
  3. Report/Publication Writing
  4. Video and audio file management and editing
  5. Training development and support

Responsibilities:
  1. Assist the Principal Investigator, Graduate Research Assistants, and other Professional Staff in both research projects and operational needs of CARES.
  2. Maintain professional communication in person, via phone, and through email.
  3. Conceptualize creative designs for projects, reports, publications, trainings, and podcasts.
  4. Create clear instructions or edit existing instructions for tasks related to work with surveys and research projects.
  5. Collect and enter data while maintaining the confidentiality of information.
  6. Assist in creating research and training products, including survey and interview questionnaires, training courses, and research protocols.
  7. Write reports/publications and conduct literature reviews.
  8. Maintain strong attention to detail.
  9. Engage in trainings, webinars, and other professional development opportunities.
  10. Present research findings at conferences, webinars, and other relevant platforms.
  11. Assist in finding, drafting, and applying for grant funding.
  12. Undertake additional responsibilities as assigned.
  13. Some in-state travel is possible.
  14. Well-versed in computer science and contact data collection
