Job description

Appointment Terms

  • This is a 10-month appointment from August through May, aligned with the academic year.
  • The Graduate Assistant is expected to work an average of 20 hours per week during the appointment period.
  • The position carries a $20,000 stipend, which will be distributed over the 10-month appointment period in accordance with university payroll practices.
  • No tuition remission or tuition benefits are associated with this appointment.
  • Occasional evening and weekend hours may be required to support performances, special events, and recruitment activities.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Maintain and coordinate room schedules and calendars for classrooms, rehearsal spaces, performance venues, and special events.
  • Assist with the management of divisional social media accounts, including creating content, scheduling posts, promoting events, and highlighting student and faculty achievements.
  • Provide support for budget-related activities, including maintaining documentation, reconciling records, processing transactions, and assisting with Workday functions as assigned.
  • Assist with the administration of student work-study employees by maintaining records, monitoring schedules, communicating expectations, and supporting supervisory processes.
  • Maintain regular office hours to answer questions and provide assistance to students, faculty, prospective students, and visitors.
  • Collect, organize, and maintain departmental syllabi and related academic documentation to ensure compliance with institutional requirements.
  • Support the preparation, routing, tracking, and filing of artist, guest speaker, and service contracts in coordination with the Arts Administrator and appropriate university offices.
  • Assist with filing, recordkeeping, data entry, and other administrative projects as assigned.
  • Provide logistical and administrative support for performances, special events, donor activities, and recruitment initiatives sponsored by the arts division.
  • Perform other duties related to arts administration as assigned by the Arts Administrator.

Qualifications

  • Admission to and good standing in a graduate degree program.
  • Strong organizational and time-management skills with careful attention to detail.
  • Excellent written, verbal, and interpersonal communication skills.
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality and exercise sound professional judgment.
  • Demonstrated proficiency with Microsoft Office and Google Workspace; experience with Workday or similar enterprise systems is preferred.
  • Experience with social media platforms and basic content creation is preferred.
  • Ability to manage multiple projects and meet deadlines in a dynamic environment.
  • Interest in arts administration, higher education administration, nonprofit leadership, or related fields is preferred.
