Job Overview
The Manufacturing Apprentice Technician supports the maintenance and operation of production equipment and facility systems. This role assists with basic mechanical repairs, routine inspections, preventive maintenance tasks, and troubleshooting activities under the guidance of experienced technicians. The position is designed for individuals with strong mechanical aptitude who are eager to learn and grow within an industrial maintenance environment.
Principal Job Duties and Responsibilities
  • Reports to: Maintenance Supervisor or designated leadership.
  • Works closely with: Maintenance Technicians, Parts Coordinator, Production Supervisors, and Operations Teams.
  • May be required to support additional maintenance activities as assigned.
  • Perform basic inspections of production machinery to identify visible wear, loose components, leaks, or safety concerns.
  • Assist with repairing or replacing mechanical parts such as belts, bearings, rollers, guards, and fasteners.
  • Help diagnose simple mechanical or electrical issues and escalate more complex problems to senior technicians.
  • Complete scheduled PM tasks including lubrication, cleaning, adjustments, and component checks.
  • Enter work orders, update repair notes, and record parts usage accurately in the computerized maintenance management system.
  • Identify needed parts and communicate requirements to the parts coordinator or supervisor.
  • Support machine changeovers, calibrations, and basic adjustments as directed.
  • Respond to maintenance requests and assist in minimizing equipment downtime.
  • Follow all safety procedures including PPE use, Lockout Tagout when trained and authorized, and 5S workplace organization.
  • Assist senior technicians during breakdowns, downtime events, and major repairs.

Position Requirements
  • Mechanical aptitude and interest in industrial maintenance
  • Basic tool knowledge and ability to use hand and power tools safely
  • Willingness to learn new skills including electrical basics and troubleshooting
  • Attention to detail with a focus on safety and quality
  • Organizational skills including accurate documentation and adherence to procedures
  • Computer literacy and ability to use CMMS platforms
  • Effective communication with team members and supervisors
  • Problem solving mindset and ability to follow instructions
  • Adaptability to work in a fast paced production environment
  • Ability to work weekends or varied shifts as required
  • Commitment to following all safety protocols and procedures
  • Ability to lift, move, and manipulate carts and components up to 50 lbs.
  • Frequent standing, bending, kneeling, and use of hand tools.
  • Work performed in a production and maintenance environment with exposure to noise, moving equipment, and industrial materials.
  • Use of PPE required in designated areas.
  • Maintain a high level of personal accountability and ownership of assigned tasks.
  • Ensure all carts returned to service meet functional and safety standards.
  • Uphold company values, safety culture, and operational excellence standards.
  • Contribute to continuous improvement efforts related to equipment reliability and maintenance processes.

Required Skills and Experience
  • High School diploma or GED required.
  • Minimum 2 years of experience in production, manufacturing, warehouse, or shipping, or equivalent combination of experience and education.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications.
  • Ability to maintain integrity, confidentiality, and a clear vision of business needs.
  • Works well in a team environment with a diverse workforce.
  • Ability to perform several tasks concurrently with ease and professionalism.
