Job description

Hillsboro Aero Academy is seeking a motivated individual to fill the position of Shop Assistant/Apprentice at our Troutdale location. This individual should possess mechanical aptitude, a good attitude, hard work ethic and ability to work efficiently. This is a training position with the goal of the Apprentice gaining their Airframe and Powerplant Certificates. The starting wage is $20/hr with incremental raises determined each 6 month period based on satisfactory reviews.

The duties of this position include but are not limited to:

  • Assisting certified A&P mechanics with maintenance
  • Making parts runs
  • Maintaining shop cleanliness
  • Completing shop projects

Must be able to work Monday through Friday, weekends and overtime if needed. This position would be an opportunity for someone to gain mechanical experience with on-the-job training in an active shop with guidance from experienced A&P mechanics. It is a 30 month program which, at the end of the apprentice has the OJT required to be eligible to apply and test for their FAA A&P certificate.

  • Ability to shift focus and tasks quickly based on priorities
  • A strong desire to become a professional aircraft maintenance technician
  • Ability to pass pre-employment and random drug tests
  • Valid driver license
