Basic Qualifications:

  • Minimum of 4+ Years of manufacturing experience or relevant machinery 
  • Able to use the necessary measuring tools (Micrometers, Calipers, Dial Indicators, Comparator, Gages, etc) as required

Howmet Fastening Systems (HFS) is seeking a 2nd Shift Machine Technician IV, Davenport, in our Carson location. HFS is a business unit of Howmet Aerospace, headquartered in Torrance, California.  We hold the number one global position in aerospace fastening systems, and we're the North American leader in commercial transportation fasteners. Our high-tech, multi-material fastening systems are found nose to tail on aircraft and aerospace engines. Our products are also critical components of industrial gas turbines, automobiles, commercial transportation vehicles, and construction and industrial equipment.

General Summary:

Set-up primary machines, such as davenports, to perform various operations, by self or others, in manufacturing departments to which assigned. Able to trouble shoot all machining and tooling issues in the department as necessary.

 

Specific Responsibilities:

  • Sets up completely and operates or sets up for operation of all standard and specialized machines in departments to which assigned.
  • Sets up, according to work order and set up standard procedures, machines which have been adapted to, or designed for, specialized company products and/or processes. 
  • Checks parts with standard gages or precision measuring instruments and submits parts for "first article" inspection as required.                                                                       
  • Operates machines to ensure proper functioning and releases to and instructs operator in procedures for producing parts in conformance with specifications.   
  • Runs, monitors and troubleshoots equipment in production, adjusting set-up as necessary.
  • Recognizes improper machine functioning and/or tooling problems and takes corrective action.
  • Performs routine preventive maintenance procedures on equipment.     
  • Assists maintenance in troubleshooting equipment by applying knowledge of individual machine characteristics.
  • Perform Statistical Process Control (SPC) and System 21 & 22 per part print as required
  • Learns the set up and operation of any new machines added to the departments to which assigned. 
  • Performs other related tasks in departments to which assigned such as: Assembling, drilling, deburring, sorting, counting, etching, stamping, recording of parts processed and housekeeping
  • Reads blueprints and has knowledge to use micrometers, calipers, comparators, thread gauges, depth micrometers and dial indicators as needed.
  • Assist factory supervision and leaders in the training of machine operators.
  • Parts to be lifted and/or transported may weigh up to 30 lbs.       
  • Keeps work area clean, safe and in an orderly fashion on a daily basis.
  • Performs other tasks of equal or lesser skill as required.
