Job description

DEPARTMENT: Child Day Care
POSITION: Program Director
SUPERVISOR: Administrator
HOURS: Full time, Monday- Friday
SALARY: $52,000 -$62,000 per year, commensurate with experience
SIGN ON BONUS: $5,000K
Duties: Maintain direct supervision, programming, health, and safety of children and staff.
Familiarize self with personnel and policy handbook, parent book, and health plan book, as well as the New York State Office of Children and Family Services revised state regulations.
Assure compliance with all state, federal, and health codes, rules, and regulations related to child day care operations.
Establish written program goals for infants, waddlers, toddlers, rompers, and preschoolers.
Oversee the implementation of program goals for each age group.
Establish and maintain a written daily schedule of program activities and routines for each age group, offering reasonable regularity in routines.
Maintain inventory of supplies.
Provide for sufficient quantity and variety of classroom materials, play equipment, and outdoor equipment appropriate for each age group as approved by administration.
Maintain work environment consistent with the facility's policies and procedures.
Provide information and tours to prospective families.
Assemble and collect all necessary paperwork for new families enrolling at the Center.
Maintain professional, positive attitude with the children, parents, staff, and supervisor.
Follow confidentiality policy at all times in relation to the children, parents/guardians, staff, and administration.
Act as a liaison to all parents/guardians of enrolled children and scheduling meetings with parents/guardians as needed and upon request.
Complete staff performance evaluations monthly and meet with staff individually every quarter, and as needed, to discuss evaluations.
Conduct staff meetings on a bi-monthly basis. Attend continuing education/in-service trainings as directed by supervisor.
Review children's files on a monthly basis, verifying completion of paperwork by staff. Maintain updated medical forms on all children enrolled according to state regulations.
Responsible for maintaining updated contact information for all children enrolled.
Responsible for overseeing the dispensing of medications and assures proper storage and documentation of medications according to the New York State Office of Children and Family Services state regulations.
Conduct and completes monthly safety check of Center and equipment.
Prepare a written self-assessment of the operation of the child day care center every other year and assists in the completion of paperwork, corresponding to licensure renewal.
Complete bi-weekly time and work schedules and forwards them to the Assistant Administrator.
Calculate bi-weekly work schedules and forwards to the payroll department for processing.
Responsible for interviewing and hiring of new staff members and assuring proper and adequate training is given to all staff members.
Oversee duties and responsibilities of the Assistant Director. Assist with any child care fundraisers as needed.
Offers slots to waiting list applicants when a child care opening occurs within the center.
Markets the facility and actively pursues additional applicants to maintain a full census at the center.
Assist in the direct supervision of any classroom area, should the need arise. Performs any other duties assigned by supervisor.
A Bachelor's degree in Early Childhood, Child Development or a related field or Associates degree with additional requirements;
One year of full-time teaching experience in a child care center or other early childhood program;
And one year of experience supervising staff in a child care program or related field of work.
