The Nursing Home Administrator is responsible for the overall management, direction, and performance of the facility, ensuring compliance with all federal and state regulations while promoting a culture of excellence, accountability, and continuous improvement. This role oversees all departments-including clinical, financial, and operational functions-to ensure the highest standards of care, efficiency, and resident satisfaction are consistently achieved.

RESPONSIBILITIES:
  • Provide strategic and operational leadership for all facility functions, ensuring the delivery of high-quality, safe, and resident-centered care across all departments.
  • Direct, supervise, and support department leaders and staff, including hiring, onboarding, scheduling, performance management, and employee engagement initiatives.
  • Develop, implement, and enforce facility-wide policies and procedures in accordance with current standards and all federal and state regulations.
  • Ensure appropriate staffing levels and effective departmental coordination to meet resident needs and maintain regulatory compliance.
  • Oversee daily operations of the facility, including clinical, financial, and support services, to ensure efficiency, quality outcomes, and resident satisfaction.
  • Lead Quality Assurance and Performance Improvement (QAPI) initiatives, monitoring key performance indicators and implementing corrective actions as needed.
  • Maintain compliance with all federal, state, and local regulations, ensuring continuous survey readiness and leading facility response during inspections and audits.
  • Collaborate with the interdisciplinary team, including physicians and department heads, to ensure effective communication, coordinated services, and continuity of care.
  • Ensure a safe, clean, and supportive environment for residents, staff, and visitors, including oversight of infection control, life safety, and emergency preparedness programs.
  • Develop and manage the facility budget, resources, and financial performance to ensure operational efficiency and long-term sustainability.
  • Promote staff development, education, and leadership growth to maintain a highly skilled, engaged, and accountable workforce.
  • Serve as the facility's primary representative to residents, families, regulatory agencies, and the community, fostering strong relationships and a positive organizational reputation.
  • Act as a key member of the leadership team, contributing to strategic planning, organizational initiatives, and continuous improvement efforts.

QUALIFICATIONS:
  • Current, valid Nursing Home Administrator (NHA) license in the state of Connecticut (or eligibility for licensure), in accordance with state and federal regulatory requirements.
  • Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university required; degree in Healthcare Administration, Business Administration, or a related field preferred. Advanced degree (Master's/MHA/MBA) strongly preferred for senior leadership roles.
  • Completion of a state-approved Administrator-in-Training (AIT) program and successful completion of required licensure examinations, as applicable.
  • Minimum of 2-5+ years of progressive leadership experience in a healthcare setting; prior experience in long-term care or skilled nursing facility operations strongly preferred.
  • Demonstrated leadership and supervisory experience, with the ability to manage multidisciplinary teams, oversee operations, and drive organizational performance.
  • Strong knowledge of federal and state regulations governing skilled nursing facilities, with proven ability to maintain compliance and ensure continuous survey readiness.
  • Experience with financial management, including budgeting, resource allocation, and operational oversight to support fiscal responsibility and sustainability.
  • Excellent interpersonal, communication, and relationship-building skills, with the ability to engage effectively with residents, families, staff, and regulatory agencies.
  • Proven leadership mindset with a passion for team development, staff engagement, and fostering a culture of accountability and excellence.
  • Strong organizational, problem-solving, and decision-making skills, with the ability to prioritize and manage multiple responsibilities in a fast-paced environment.
  • Ability to lead within a long-term care or skilled nursing environment, demonstrating professionalism, adaptability, and sound judgment.
  • Must be able to read, write, and communicate effectively in English.
