Job description

Wylander Solutions, a recruiting company for the disaster restoration industry, is hiring a Director of Accounting/ Controller for a company in Hainesville, IL.

The Director of Accounting/Controller is responsible for applying accounting and finance principles to analyze financial information and assist in preparing financial reports. Responsibilities include but are not limited to: preparing and maintaining monthly recurring journal entries; assisting with month-end close; analyzing budgets and financial plans; preparing business forecasts and statistical reports; preparing balance sheets and profit and loss statements; preparing federal, state, and local reports; as well as managing day-to-day bookkeeping duties.

 

Responsibilities:

·       Manage Accounting Department: Accounts Receivable, Accounts Payable, HR duties, and payroll.

·       Direct and coordinate the company’s financial planning and budget management functions, as well as cash flow forecasting

·       Manage the preparation of financial reports, forecasts, and analyze monthly operating results compared to the budget.

·       Oversee daily operations of the finance department

·       Assist in collecting overdue receivables

·       Design the organization structure for the finance department and staff positions with qualified employees, and continually train and develop employees to accomplish the department’s goals and objectives. effectively

·       Ensure compliance with local, state / provincial, and federal reporting requirements.

·       Work with other department managers, executives, and owners to develop and execute the strategic plan.

·       Direct financial audits and provide recommendations for process and procedure improvements

·       Establish and implement short and long-range departmental objectives, policies, and operating procedures.

·       Accurately prepare and file required tax forms.

·       Hiring, development, and termination decisions for finance department employees

Qualifications:

·       10+ years of accounting experience

·       5+ years within a controller role, preferably within the construction industry

·       Knowledge of WIP, job costing, and cost accrual revenue allocation

·       Expert knowledge and understanding of financial concepts and accounting principles

·       Strong quantitative, analytical, organizational, and problem-solving skills

·       Strong understanding of the key drivers of profitability, including experience providing analysis with actionable steps for operations

·       Strong computer skills

·       Proven strong time management and organizational skills

·       Ability to meet stringent deadlines and work independently

·       BA/BS in Accounting or Finance
