Job Title: Senior Accountant FLSA Status: Exempt (FT)
Location: Boise, Idaho Reports To: Finance Director
About Your Role
The Senior Accountant is a Data Airflow (DAF) employee responsible for maintaining the accuracy and integrity of the Company's financial records and supporting the month-end close process. This role plays a key part in project accounting, revenue recognition under ASC 606, sales and use tax compliance, account reconciliations, financial reporting, and process improvement initiatives. The ideal candidate brings strong technical accounting skills, experience in project-based accounting environments, hands-on NetSuite knowledge, and the ability to work cross-functionally with Operations, Sales, Procurement, and Project Management teams.
What You'll Do (Job Responsibilities)
General Accounting
  • Prepare and record journal entries.
  • Perform monthly, quarterly, and annual account reconciliations.
  • Analyze balance sheet and income statement accounts.
  • Review financial transactions for accuracy and compliance with company policies.

Revenue Recognition & Contract Accounting
  • Support revenue recognition processes in accordance with ASC 606.
  • Track deferred revenue and contract liabilities.
  • Reconcile billed versus recognized revenue.

Project Accounting
  • Support project managers with financial reporting and analysis.
  • Review project billings and customer invoicing.

Accounts Payable & Procurement Support
  • Support vendor onboarding and documentation reviews.
  • Assist with equipment procurement accounting.

Sales & Use Tax Compliance
  • Maintain exemption certificate files.
  • Assist with sales and use tax filings.
  • Support multi-state tax compliance activities.
  • Monitor tax treatment of equipment sales, engineering services, and commissioning services.

Financial Reporting
  • Prepare monthly financial reports and account analyses.
  • Assist with management reporting packages.
  • Support budget and forecast preparation.
  • Perform variance analysis and provide explanations of significant fluctuations.

Audit Support
  • Prepare audit schedules and supporting documentation.
  • Assist external auditors with financial statement audits.
  • Support internal control compliance initiatives.

Process Improvement
  • Identify opportunities to improve accounting processes and controls.
  • Assist with ERP enhancements and system implementations.
  • Develop and maintain accounting procedures and documentation.

What You'll Need to Get the Job Done:
  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field (required).
  • CPA or CPA candidate (preferred).
  • 4-7 years of progressive accounting experience.
  • Strong understanding of U.S. GAAP and advanced Microsoft Excel skills.
  • Experience with ERP systems, with NetSuite strongly preferred.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with excellent attention to detail.
  • Effective written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to work independently and collaboratively across departments.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines in a fast-paced, growth-stage environment.
  • Preferred: Experience in project-based, construction, engineering, manufacturing, or industrial services environments.
  • Preferred: Experience with ASC 606 revenue recognition.
  • Preferred: Multi-state sales and use tax experience.
