Job description

We are looking for an experienced Sr. Accountant to support core accounting operations in Sarasota, Florida. This role will play a key part in maintaining accurate financial records, managing close activities, and ensuring balance sheet accounts are properly reconciled. The ideal candidate brings strong technical accounting knowledge, attention to detail, and the ability to work effectively in a fast-paced environment.
Responsibilities:
• Lead monthly close activities by preparing schedules, reviewing account activity, and helping ensure timely and accurate financial reporting.
• Maintain the general ledger by recording financial transactions and verifying that entries align with accounting standards and internal controls.
• Prepare and post journal entries with appropriate supporting documentation and clear explanations for adjustments.
• Perform detailed reconciliations for balance sheet and other assigned accounts, researching and resolving discrepancies promptly.
• Complete bank reconciliations on a recurring basis and investigate variances between cash records and bank activity.
• Analyze financial data to identify unusual trends, correct errors, and improve the accuracy of reported results.
• Partner with internal stakeholders to gather information needed for close, reporting, and account review activities.• Demonstrated experience in a senior-level accounting role with responsibility for core general ledger functions.
• Strong knowledge of month-end close procedures and financial statement support activities.
• Hands-on experience preparing journal entries and maintaining accurate accounting records.
• Proven ability to complete account reconciliations thoroughly and resolve outstanding items efficiently.
• Experience performing bank reconciliations and investigating cash-related variances.
• High attention to detail with strong organizational and analytical skills.
• Ability to manage deadlines, prioritize competing tasks, and communicate effectively with cross-functional teams.
