Job description

Job Summary
Provide friendly in-person assistance at the Kresge Library Services office's reception desk. Answer questions from University patrons and the public, perform confidential record-keeping, and monitor visiting students to ensure they follow library policies and procedures.
Preferred schedule of 12:00PM - 4:00PM M-F, up to 20 hours/week
Responsibilities*
PRIMARY DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Provide coverage at main service area: assist patrons and public visitor inquiries and requests for information or services and direct accordingly, answer incoming phone calls and respond to those as appropriate or transfer or take messages, inform patrons and public of established library policies and procedures.
  • Monitor Gmail and department ticketing system (TeamDynamics). Respond to inquiries or forward to appropriate staff.
  • Perform distribution services for graded, printed exams and assignments:
    • Look up student's records; monitor, track, and input data keeping all records accurate and confidential.
    • Monitor students who review graded, printed exams in the library's seating area, ensuring they follow all rules to keep exams confidential.

SECONDARY DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Monitor assignment/exam submissions.
    • Deliver students' notes to faculty members as needed.
    • Deliver assignment/exam materials back to faculty office/mail hub. If necessary, contact the user regarding pickup or delivery to the faculty office/mail hub.
  • Review draft versions of digital coursepacks upon request, checking to ensure that the settings and contents match faculty members' requests.
  • Attend office meetings and contribute to the team and department goals.
  • Other miscellaneous office duties as assigned.

Required Qualifications*
  • Cannot be a Ross student or participate in any Ross courses
  • Demonstrated experience in an office setting
  • Knowledge of general information technology including Microsoft Office and Google Office Suite software
  • Excellent customer service skills
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Great attention to detail and the ability to exercise good judgment and work under pressure
  • Ability to lift 40+ pounds, bend, and stand up to two hours if needed
  • Ability to work as a member of a team
  • Ability to work on-site

Desired Qualifications*
  • Some knowledge of one or more foreign languages
  • Some experience in a library or academic setting
