Job description

Overview
VTG is seeking a Technical Writer to support our team in Fredericksburg, VA. The ideal candidate will have strong technical communication skills and practical experience translating complex technical information into clear, user-friendly documentation for a variety of audiences.
What will you do?
  • Collaborate with engineers, scientists, computer support specialists, network engineers, and software developers to gather technical information
  • Develop clear, accurate how-to-guides and operating instructions for end users
  • Assess and determine documentation requirements based on end-user needs
  • Select and produce content in the most effective medium - written documentation, online videos, or other formats - to communicate technical information effectively
  • Ensure all technical documentation is accurate, consistent, and accessible to the intended audience

Do you have what it takes?
  • Must be a US Citizen with a Top Secret clearance.
  • BA/BS degree or equivalent, with a minimum of five (5) years or more of technical experience working in this position
  • Technical communication certification required
  • Practical experience working with engineers, scientists, computer support specialists, network engineers, or software developers
  • Demonstrated experience creating how-to-guides and operating instructions
  • Ability to determine end-user technical documentation needs
  • Experience selecting the appropriate medium for messaging, including documents and online videos

VTG's estimated starting pay range is $83,000-$108,000 annually, which is a general guideline for the geographic location. When extending an offer, VTG also considers work experience, education, skill level, market considerations and may possibly include contractual requirements which may cause an offer to fall outside of this range.
