Job description

POSITION SUMMARY

The operator assembles water source heat pumps using power tools, hand tools, brazing torches and/or automated equipment or machinery.Performs other tasks as assigned by the Production Supervisor or Team Leader.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

  • Operates hand tools (electrical, pneumatic, manual, or other) to install fasteners, terminals or other small components in the assembly process
  • Read parts specification from manufacturing decoder paperwork with corresponding unit
  • Build units to specification by installing correct parts in the manner specified by work instructions and standard work
  • Lifts and positions components and sub-assemblies for assembly
  • Operates bridge crane and/or jib crane to lift and position parts and materials for assembly
  • Ensure the quality of the parts and /or materials being delivered to the assembly line
  • Utilizes brazing equipment and supplies to join copper components to assemble products
  • Reviews Drawings, Bills of Material, Work Instructions, Decoder information and other product documentation to ensure assembly work is completed per the specification
  • Performs assembly work in a paced environment to ensure production TAKT times are consistently obtained, while maintaining safety and quality work practices
  • Exhibits the ability to learn multiple processes within assigned work group and per the defined plan
  • Communicates frequently with your team and others, in concise and polite terms, regarding daily operations and process improvements
  • Move to and work at different assembly lines or work stations, as required
  • Promotes quality by demonstrating personal accuracy and thoroughness, while monitoring work
  • Exhibits dependable attendance, consistent with defined schedule and guidelines
  • Exhibits hand dexterity and visual acuity, to assemble small components
  • Reports all non-conforming components or products to Supervisor promptly
  • Visually monitors work station carts, equipment and devices for defects or failures and notifies Team Lead or Supervisor for corrective action and repair
  • Ensures the quality of the components and /or materials being installed in work station, meet the defined quality requirements.
  • Notifies assembly Team Lead or Supervisor, when required components need to be re-stocked in area
  • Consistently maintains a clean and well organized work area
  • Reports any unsafe conditions or actions, and promotes safe working conditions and environment
  • Follows safety guidelines and policies to ensure safe working practices at all times

SKILLS & ABILITIES

  • Education:High School Diploma or GED preferred; or 6 months related experience and or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Experience:1-3 years of assembly experience is preferred.
  • Computer Skills:Basic computer skills preferred.
  • Certificates & Licenses:N/A
  • Other Requirements:Must be able to read and communicate in English. Knowledge of operational excellence principles, lean manufacturing, continuous improvement and 5S is preferred.
