What are some common challenges faced in assembly work, and how can they be addressed?

Common challenges in assembly work include repetitive tasks that can lead to fatigue or strain, maintaining accuracy under time pressure, and adapting to changes in production requirements. To address these, many employers provide ergonomic workstations, regular breaks, and thorough training on quality standards. Team members also support each other by sharing best practices and collaborating to troubleshoot issues, ensuring both efficiency and product quality.

Job description

Assembly Technician โ€“ Energy Storage | Mountain View, CA | Onsite

I'm partnering with a well-funded, early-stage energy storage company based in Mountain View building hardware that matters. As they scale their production operations, they're looking for a hands-on Assembly Technician to join their growing team on the floor five days a week.

What you'll be doing

You'll be assembling and integrating modular energy storage hardware โ€” think cabinet-level and system-level assembly, electrical interconnects, and integration of components into deployable units. You'll be following detailed assembly procedures, maintaining quality standards, and working in a fast-moving environment where your work goes directly into real product.

What they're looking for

  • 2+ years of hands-on assembly experience with modular hardware โ€” energy storage systems, modular data centers, power electronics enclosures, or similar
  • Comfort with electrical assembly work โ€” torquing, crimping, cable harnessing, connector assembly, ESD-sensitive handling
  • Experience assembling into rack or cabinet form factors a strong plus
  • Ability to read and follow assembly drawings, BOMs, and work instructions
  • Sharp attention to detail and a process-oriented mindset
  • A team player who thrives in a small, high-ownership environment

Nice to have

  • IPC-A-620 or similar certification
  • Background with UPS systems, BESS, or modular data center infrastructure
  • Experience in a startup or scale-up manufacturing environment

Compensation

$28โ€“31/hour depending on experience, full-time, benefits included.

Location

Mountain View, CA โ€” fully onsite, five days per week.
