Assembly Technician II

Location: Hayward, CA
Pay Rate: $20.00 - $22.50 per hour
Schedule: Monday-Friday | 6:00 AM - 2:30 PM

Position Overview

We are seeking a detail-oriented Assembly Technician II to join our manufacturing team in Hayward, CA. The Assembly Technician II is responsible for assembling components and subassemblies, performing testing and inspections, and ensuring products meet quality and performance standards. The ideal Assembly Technician II will have strong mechanical aptitude, experience working in a manufacturing or cleanroom environment, and the ability to interpret work instructions, engineering drawings, and blueprints.

The Assembly Technician II will work closely with production teams and leadership to support daily manufacturing operations while maintaining a strong focus on safety, quality, and continuous improvement.

Key Responsibilities

Assembly & Production

  • Assemble mechanical components and subassemblies according to work instructions and specifications.
  • Gather required parts, materials, tools, and equipment prior to beginning assembly work.
  • Operate hand tools, power tools, and bench tools to complete assembly tasks.
  • Perform leak testing and verify product functionality.
  • Conduct standard testing and minor troubleshooting activities.
  • Ensure assemblies meet quality standards and customer requirements.
  • Maintain a clean and organized work area.

Quality & Inspection

  • Read and interpret assembly instructions, parts lists, engineering drawings, schematics, and blueprints.
  • Inspect completed assemblies for accuracy, quality, and compliance with specifications.
  • Identify and communicate quality concerns or production issues.
  • Support continuous improvement efforts to enhance product quality and manufacturing efficiency.

Team Collaboration

  • Work effectively with supervisors, management, and team members to achieve production goals.
  • Communicate production updates, issues, and opportunities for improvement.
  • Follow all safety, quality, and operational procedures.

Required Qualifications

  • High School Diploma or equivalent experience.
  • Minimum of 1 year of experience in a manufacturing or cleanroom environment.
  • Basic mechanical aptitude and experience performing assembly work.
  • Ability to read and follow work instructions and technical documentation.
  • Experience using hand tools, portable power tools, and bench tools.
  • Strong attention to detail and commitment to quality.
  • Basic computer skills and familiarity with common software applications.
  • Strong communication and teamwork skills.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Cable and harness assembly experience.
  • Experience with helium leak testing.
  • Experience performing module and subassembly testing and inspections.
  • Ability to read engineering drawings, schematics, and blueprints.
  • Technical coursework, AA Technical Degree, or equivalent hands-on experience.

Work Environment

  • Manufacturing and/or cleanroom environment.
  • Exposure to machinery, moving mechanical parts, electrical equipment, and cleaning chemicals.
  • Moderate noise levels may be present.
  • Required use of Personal Protective Equipment (PPE).

Physical Requirements

  • Frequently stand or sit for extended periods.
  • Ability to bend, stoop, kneel, crouch, reach, push, pull, and grasp.
  • Lift up to 25 pounds independently and greater weights with assistance.
  • Maintain visual acuity for detailed assembly and inspection tasks.
  • Use hands and fingers for precise assembly operations.
  • Ability to work safely around manufacturing equipment and tools.
