DOOR HARDWARE INSTALLATION AND TEST TECHNICIAN

Intertek, a leading provider of quality and safety solutions to many of the world's top-recognized brands and companies, is actively seeking a Door Hardware Installation and Test Technician to join our Building and Construction team in Middleton, WI. This is a fantastic opportunity to grow a versatile career in our Building Materials testing lab.

The Building & Construction team provides assurance, testing, inspection, and certification services and building science solutions to deliver Total Quality Assurance to the built environment. The team offers the architectural, engineering and construction (A/E/C) industry with a full suite of capabilities both in the lab and on site.

JOB SUMMARY

Test Technician is responsible for installation, performing standard testing and evaluation on a variety of door hardware products and preparing technical reports.  This position works under general supervision.

ESSENTIAL JOB DUTIES AND RESPONSIBLITIES

  • Setting up test apparatus for Door Hardware testing (Hinges, door closers, door locks, and deadbolts)
  • Building simple test fixtures
  • Preparing test samples which may include assembly tasks
  • Operating test equipment
  • Obtaining and recording test data in accordance with standards
  • Analyze test data and performing routing calculations 
  • Prepare technical reports
  • Maintaining equipment and facilities

  • Performing other work as required

ESSENTIAL REQUIREMENTS AND QUALIFICATIONS

  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • Forklift operator experience preferred
  • 0-3 years directly related experience in construction or installation of door hardware products

  • Ability to utilize basic shop equipment and various hand tools
  • Ability to review, understand, and convey technical information in an effective manner
  • Ability to apply common-sense understanding to carry out simple one or two step instructions
  • Ability to deal with standardized situations with only occasional or no variables
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced, multi-tasking environment
  • Physical dexterity to execute precise tasks using delicate materials and equipment
  • Physical ability to routinely lift at least 50 pounds 
  • Physical ability to sit, stand, crouch, bend, climb stairs and ladders, crawl, push, pull, etc. as required to perform job duties
  • Ability to operate Forklift
  • Strong interpersonal skills
  • Strong communication skills, in both verbal and written formats
  • Microsoft Office software expertise, including Word, Excel and Outlook
  • Valid driver's license and reliable driving record (required)
