The Assembly Sergeant at Arms office is a non-partisan office that aids the operation of the Assembly.

Schedule:
Schedule availability is an important part of our hiring process since we hire based on the needs of the Assembly. We are hiring primarily for Tuesdays, Wednesdays, and/or Thursdays. Shifts on Mondays and Fridays may be available for people who have good availability on one or more of these days.) We ask that applicants make themselves available to work 10-20 hours a week. We try to adhere to shifts of 3 hours or more. In addition, occasional evening hours are needed when the Assembly is in Session. Periodic weekend work may also be available.

Duties include:
  • Errand deliveries
  • Copying and scanning
  • Staff support for legislative committees and floor sessions
  • Answering the telephone and directing people to their Legislators
  • Setting up and taking down equipment
  • Labeling brochures/documents
  • Counting and bundling newsletters and mailings
  • Arranging rooms and moving furniture
  • Carrying heavy and/or bulky items
  • Providing security services

Qualifications:
Looking for people with good communication skills who are comfortable working independently and in groups. Our office is non-partisan and requires professionalism. Prior experience in a job that requires excellent customer service skills is desired. Professional attire is required.
Physical Demands
Some lifting of packages and boxes and transporting various items in and around the Wisconsin State Capitol.
