Job description

Summary
Responsible for assembling, installing, and testing helm components and control systems in accordance with company quality standards, production schedules, and customer specifications.

Essential Job Functions

Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

  • Assemble and install helm station components according to work instructions, specifications, and production requirements.
  • Mount and secure gauges, switches, steering components, control panels, electronics, and related hardware.
  • Route, connect, and secure electrical wiring and harnesses for helm systems.
  • Install and test accessories such as stereos, speakers, GPS units, fish finders, lighting controls, and other customer-selected options.
  • Read and follow assembly drawings, wiring diagrams, and work orders.
  • Verify proper fit, finish, functionality, and appearance of installed components.
  • Troubleshoot and correct minor assembly, wiring, and installation issues as needed.
  • Perform operational testing of helm controls, electrical systems, and installed electronics.
  • Maintain accurate production and quality documentation.
  • Conduct self-inspections to ensure compliance with company quality standards.
  • Maintain tools, equipment, and work areas in a clean, organized, and safe condition.
  • Collaborate with other departments to ensure production schedules and customer requirements are met.
  • Follow all company safety policies, procedures, and personal protective equipment (PPE) requirements.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
  • High school diploma or GED required.
  • Minimum one year of manufacturing, assembly, marine, or electrical installation experience preferred.
  • Basic knowledge of electrical wiring, hand tools, and assembly processes.
  • Ability to read and follow assembly instructions, wiring diagrams, and work orders.
  • Basic math, reading, writing, and communication skills.
  • Basic computer skills, including Microsoft Office applications.
  • Strong attention to detail and commitment to quality workmanship.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Dependable attendance and willingness to work overtime as needed.
Physical Demands
  • Ability to stand, walk, bend, reach, kneel, and work in confined areas throughout a 10-hour shift.
  • Ability to regularly lift, carry, push, and pull materials weighing up to 50 pounds.
  • Ability to work inside boats and around electrical and mechanical components.
  • Must be able to work in a manufacturing/shop environment and safely operate hand and power tools.
