Job description

Mid Continent Engineering is seeking Assembly to join our team! This is a 6 am to 4:30 pm- Monday through Thursday opportunity.

Mid-Continent has been a supplier to first-tier OEMs within the medical, aerospace and defense industries for decades. Summary: 

This position will supervise assembly by training & supporting employees efficiently and effectively producing parts.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities include the following: 

  • Assignments can range from moderately complex to complex.
  • Has the ability to position, align, and fasten units to assemblies, subassemblies, or frames. While using adhesives, hardware, hand tools, and power tools. 
  • Refers to blueprints and specifications to assemble, modify, rework, or reassemble parts/units. 
  • Assures and maintains a consistent, acceptable level of individual/ team quality and productivity performance.
  • Ability to set up and operate all equipment in the department, such as rivet machines, punching machines, etc.
  • Provide employee training & development.
  • The ability to give directions to meet or exceed the project deadline.
  • Work with the HR department maintaining employee hiring, retention, performance reviews, and disciplines. 
  • Managing People - Takes responsibility for subordinates' activities; Makes self-available to staff; Provides regular performance feedback; Fosters quality focus in others; Improves processes, products, and services. 
  • Continually works to improve supervisory skills.
  • Perform other duties, as assigned. 

Education & Experience:

  • High School Diploma or G.E.D, preferred. 
  • 5+ years of assembly & supervision experience in a manufacturing environment
  • Ability to read and understand blueprint specifications and communicate direction to team. 
  • Epicor ERP Software experience is a plus.
  • Solid computer skills including Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, etc.
  • Must be team oriented.
  • Ability to identify problems and offer solutions.

Employees must be able to cope with Minnesota climate variances, endure heat & cold conditions in the shop. Endure heavy workloads, high noise levels from hammering, and grinding (hearing protection provided). Protect against metal particles, fumes, sparks, particles, and gases (safety glasses, safety-toed boots, ear plugs, and gloves provided by the company policy guidelines). 

Individuals working in an office setting will not endure some of the physical & work environmental conditions of the production floor unless the office is adjacent to the production floor or per the individual’s job duty and/ or responsibilities. All office personnel must abide by the PPE guidelines (safety glasses, safety-toed boots that are provided by the company policy guidelines) when entering the production floor or if a requirement of a department that an individual is entering or working in.
