Job description

Role Summary

We are seeking a skilled and passionate Senior Manufacturing Engineer to lead the design and development of advanced automation equipment and assembly lines as we scale our hardware product portfolio. In this role, you will drive cross-functional initiatives to bring innovative hardware solutions from concept through to full-scale production. Collaborating closely with controls, mechanical and electrical design teams, you will implement robust machine and process architecture.ย ย 

This role presents a unique opportunity to influence product design from its earliest stages. It is a rare and valuable learning experience forย manufacturing engineersย to be embedded so deeply in both product and manufacturing development.ย 

Responsibilities:ย 

  • Leadย Designย for Manufacturing (DFM) and Design for X (DFx),ย Assembly, Quality, Reliabilityย 
  • Leadย and implement robust manufacturing processes, including process sequencing, critical parameter development, and assembly recipesย 
  • Drive quality, repeatability, and throughput in both prototype and production environments.ย 
  • Collaborate closely with Design Engineering, NPI, Quality, and Production teams throughout the product lifecycleย 
  • Act as a technical lead toย resolveย quality and functional issues in production and with contract manufacturers.ย 
  • Develop data-driven action plans and root cause analyses to ensureย timelyย resolution and continuous improvement.ย 
  • Designย and validation of novel prototype tooling and assembly equipment with 3rd third-party equipment builder.ย 
  • Collaborate with the equipment design engineer for in-house equipment development.ย 
  • Oversee internal and external development of equipment and processes for new product introduction and scale-up.ย 
  • Support the ramp-up of production lines, resolving technical issues,ย optimizingย process performance, and ensuring lines meetย taktย time, yield, and labor efficiency targets.ย 
  • Perform line balancing and capacity planning studies to support efficient line layout, equipmentย utilization, and throughput targets as production scales.ย 
  • Maintain comprehensive process documentation,ย participateย in Engineering Change Managementย 
  • Drive continuous improvement efforts through data collection, analysis, and feedback loopsย 
  • Mentor techniciansย and production associatesย as neededย 

Qualifications:ย 

  • Bachelor's or master'sย degree in mechanical, Manufacturing, or Industrial Engineering (or related field)ย 
  • 5+ years of experience in manufacturing engineering, with background in DFM, process development, and high-mix orย low-to-high-volume productionย 
  • Hands-on experienceย inย any of the followingย manufacturing processes:ย injection molding, die casting, machining, assembly automation, potting, wilding, soldering, laser, adhesion.ย 
  • Experienceย inย participatingย in large-scale capital equipment design projects.ย From Request from quotation to FAT,ย SATย or SOP.ย 
  • Backgroundย in concept-to-production equipment development.ย 
  • Experience in data collection and analysis for process development or applicable process engineeringย expertiseย 
  • Willingย to lead cross-functional projects and vendor engagementsย 
  • Experience inย problem-solving and a data-driven mindsetย 
  • Familiarity with tools such asย OEE, CP, CPK,ย PFMEA, DOE, root cause analysis, and SPCย 
  • Writtenย and verbal communication skillsย 
  • Experience working in Agile development environments, including task management and sprint planning using Scrum methodologies and tools like Jira.ย 
  • Ability to travel up to 20% - 25% including internationallyย 

Bonus Qualifications:ย 

  • Proficiencyย in CAD software (3D EXPERIENCE (3DX), CATIA, NX, SolidWorks,ย Creoย etc.) for designing mechanical assemblies.ย 
  • Experience with DFM/DFA (Design for Manufacturing/Assembly) methodologies.ย 
  • GD&T and its impact on manufacturability.ย 
  • Knowledge of motion control, pneumatics, hydraulics, and sensors.ย 
  • Knowledge of mechanical,ย electricalย andย electronicย schematics.ย ย 
  • Power Electronics Assembly experience is highly valued from energy, automotive, aerospace, semiconductor, or consumer electronics manufacturing.ย 
  • Experience inย Overall Equipment Efficiency (OEE) improvements.ย ย
