Job description

ABOUT THE ROLE

The drafting group creates the design, configurations, and construction plans based on engineering guidance necessary to guide our production teams to manufacture industry leading homes and components for our customers.

The Drafter creates design, configuration and construction plans using computer aided design and desktop software, in accordance with engineering and code specifications, for production teams. This role may work independently or under direct supervision executing specific process steps under continuous quality review and coaching as needed.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Preparation of engineering construction documents for a factory assembly line. This will include designs and specifications of floor plans, floor framing plan, elevations, electrical, plumbing, mechanical, roof framing, DWV isometric, cold and hot isometrics, and energy systems in accordance with manager’s directions, instructions, design concepts, and sales orders.
    • Legibly and accurately draw and modify construction drawings from rough sketches, verbal instructions, and designer drawings for use on factory assembly lines,
    • Produce handwritten or computer aided drafting prints,
    • Create detailed drawings,
    • Edit sales brochures,
    • Maintain generation of floorplan approval documents and submittals the appropriate agencies,
    • Recognizes and suggests ways for cost savings
  • Work closely with sales, design and other departments to gather specifications and draft various options and layouts for marketing and client specific consideration.
  • Follow written and verbal instructions and guidelines in order to work with minimal supervision while being able to multitask and shift focus within different tasks.
  • Manage project priorities to meet shifting timeline needs.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
  • Assist Production with prints on an as needed basis.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

  • A minimum of two (2) years of architectural design experience is desired, but not required.
  • Drafting experience in the manufactured home business is a plus, but not mandatory.
  • Working knowledge of wood construction systems designs.
  • Ability to interpret engineering drawings, will train, if needed.
  • Ability to read a tape measure to 1/16, required.
  • Ability to locate and understand building Codes for both HUD and MOD specifications.
  • Ability to research construction codes and references (IRC or IBC).
  • Preferred residential plumbing and electrical knowledge.
  • High School diploma or equivalent required, drafting degree and 2 years of higher education preferred.
  • Math skills to include a solid understanding of fractions and percentages.
  • Ability to read
  • Proficient in Microsoft office tools (Outlook, Word, Excel)
  • Knowledge of Adobe Acrobat 2020
  • Must be able to perform work on a timely schedule while working as part of a tight-knit design team.
  • Ability to work additional and/or alternative hours depending on deadlines and company needs
  • Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Strong interpersonal, oral and written communication skills.
  • Ability to receive and apply feedback.
  • Self-starter with strong work ethic.
