Job description

Job Title: Assembly TechnicianJob Description

The Assembly Technician performs mechanical assembly of products and repair kits using blueprints, routing sheets, specifications, and a variety of hand and power tools. This role moves and stages parts, assembles components, inspects and packages finished products, and supports shipping and production activities to ensure quality standards and production schedules are consistently met.

Responsibilities
  • Gather blueprints, routing sheets, setting specifications, fixtures, and tools required to assemble products as directed.
  • Move parts from storage racks to the assembly area and ensure components are properly staged for production.
  • Fasten parts together using bolts, screws, speed clips, and other mechanical fasteners in accordance with specifications.
  • Use blueprints, routing sheets, setting specifications, hand tools, fixtures, and test benches to perform assembly operations accurately.
  • Assemble parts into repair kits and switches, then package and transfer completed products to the shipping department for further processing.
  • Inspect products prior to packaging and return nonconforming or rejected products to the appropriate production departments.
  • Observe packaging operations and inspect containers to verify conformance to specifications and quality standards.
  • Establish or adjust work procedures as needed to meet production schedules and maintain workflow efficiency.
  • Tally and record the number of products packaged and document information such as product types and quantities.
  • Operate a pallet jack to load, move, and position materials and products safely within the facility.
  • Pack parts securely to prevent damage during transportation to the next operation or department.
  • Maintain consistent production rates while upholding a high level of quality and accuracy in all assembly tasks.
  • Communicate effectively with shipping clerks, assembly personnel, and other shop staff to coordinate work and resolve issues.
  • Follow safety rules, operating procedures, and maintenance instructions, and adhere to established quality standards.
Essential Skills
  • Mechanical assembly experience using hand tools and power tools in a production environment.
  • Ability to read, write, and understand work instructions in English.
  • Ability to read and interpret engineering prints, drawings, blueprints, routing sheets, and test specifications.
  • Strong basic math skills, including adding, subtracting, multiplying, and dividing using whole numbers, fractions, and decimals.
  • Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions.
  • Ability to interpret a wide variety of technical instructions in mathematical or diagram form.

  • High school diploma or general education degree (GED), nine to eighteen months of related experience and/or training, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.

  • Attention to detail in inspecting products and packaging to ensure conformance to specifications.
  • Strong organizational skills for tallying and recording product counts and types.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $18.90 - $18.90/hr.
