Job description

The Associate, Facilities (Handyman) is responsible for performing general maintenance, repair, and upkeep of facilities, equipment and grounds across Oriental properties. The position also provides delivery and pickup services for branches & operational units throughout Puerto Rico. The position is based at Oriental Center in Hato Rey and requires travel across the Island to support operational needs.

MAJOR DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Maintain bank offices, branches, warehouse facilities and their surroundings in a safe, clean and secure condition.
  • Provide support to Facilities Services personnel with service requests for office premises and branches.
  • Identify, report and, where possible, perform minor repairs to facilities issues found in bank offices and branches.
  • Replace flags, acoustic ceiling tiles and perform painting, wall repairs and finishing work.
  • Perform basic carpentry, plumbing and electrical repairs.
  • Remove, relocate and assemble modular office furniture, file cabinets, boxes, and other office equipment.
  • Deliver and pick up supplies, materials and equipment to and from branches and corporate offices.
  • Pick up materials, equipment and documents from government agencies and other locations, as required.
  • Maintain a high-quality level of service for bank employees, customers and suppliers.
  • Assist in maintaining Facilities Department premises, including offices, warehouses and storage areas
  • Other duties may be assigned.

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:

  • Hight School Diploma required
  • Six (6)+ years of experience in a similar role required.
  • Minimum education and experience required can be substituted with the equivalent combination of education, training and experience that provides the required knowledge, skills and abilities.
  • General knowledge of carpentry, electricity, plumbing, painting and modular furniture assembly.
  • Ability to identify facilities-related issues and recommend corrective actions.
  • Maintain effective interpersonal relationships with employees, customers and suppliers.
  • Ability to perform physical tasks including lifting, carrying and moving materials, furniture and equipment.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team while coordinating work efforts with others.
  • Candidates must have proactive problem solving, be organized, as well as detail oriented and able to multitask observing the defined quality standards.
  • Ability to work during periods of high volume and respond to service requests in a timely manner.
  • Ability to work evenings, weekends and travel throughout Puerto Rico, as required.
  • Fully bilingual: English and Spanish (written and verbal) preferred.
  • Proficiency in MS Office (Excel, Word) and other business applications such as Visio among others.

WORK AUTHORIZATION & ELEGIBILITY:

  • Legally authorized to work in the US is required. This position is of indefinite duration and requires candidates to have permanent or ongoing work authorization.
  • Employee is responsible for maintaining eligible work authorization throughout his tenure with the organization.
