About Mass FInishing Inc. (MFI)

Mass Finishing Inc. (MFI) is an industry leader in polishing and deburring machines based in Howard Lake, MN. As a leader in the design and manufacture of high-energy centrifugal barrel finishing equipment, MFI has helped companies in dozens of different industries. Some of the most common industries we serve include medical, firearms and munitions, aerospace, additive manufacturing, and industrial equipment.

Position Description:

Mass Finishing Inc is seeking a skilled and detail-oriented Mechanical Machine Assembler to join our team. The primary function of the Mechanical Machine Assembler is to perform assembly of finishing machine equipment. You will assemble the frame and turrets of the individual models of machines using hand tools and following engineering drawings and schematics as well as written and verbal instructions. Will operate a forklift for material and product movement.


Essential Functions:

· Utilize hand tools, power tools and hardware to assemble standard and engineered products to manufacturer specifications and quality standards with the aid of supervision or trainers.

· Perform job set-up by obtaining necessary/required parts, drawings, and schematics. Check for correctness of parts by referencing the bill of material. Read and interpret drawings and schematics.

· Communicate with engineers, designers, and technicians to resolve assembly discrepancies.

· Perform ongoing inspection of product during assembly process and prior to product’s shipment.

· Lift and position assemblies. Operate Forklift for material and product movement.

· Maintain a clean, safe, and orderly work area.

· Set-up and perform Assembly Department operations with minimum supervision.

· Familiar with mechanical components.

· Thorough understanding of part prints (tolerances, symbols, etc.).

· Perform checks for quality of parts and adjust as required.

· Prepare machinery for shipment using crating lumber and tools

· Minimal welding with MIG/TIG Welder

· Field Service Work may be required. Ability to travel preferred

· Perform other duties as assigned.

Requirements:

· High School Diploma or equivalent

· 1-2 years of assembly and/or fabrication experience 

· Knowledge of forklift is preferred

· Familiar with mechanical components

· Able to read and interpret routings, bills of material, assembly drawings, work instructions and notes

· Ability to travel if needed

· Manual dexterity

· Ability to work in a team setting

· A positive can-do attitude

· Strong motivation and communication skills

· Problem solving skills

· Refuse to be satisfied with average performance

· Other duties as assigned

· Requires passing a pre-employment screening. Includes a drug screen


Applicable training will be completed by following the Assembly Training Matrix.  Effectiveness of assembly training guidelines will be determined by employee knowledge and demonstration of learned concepts. Additional training after the first several weeks of on-the-job training will be determined by the Supervisor in preparation to operate on their own as needed. Any follow up training will be evaluated and provided at the 60-day review or as deemed necessary for the position.
