AJ Construction, Inc.
Jackson Metro Area - Richland, Mississippi
AJ Construction, Inc. is seeking an experienced Asphalt Paving Laydown Foreman to lead our paving crews and oversee asphalt paving operations throughout Central Mississippi.
We are looking for a proven leader who understands every aspect of asphalt paving-from job setup and crew management to producing a smooth, high-quality finished product. The ideal candidate is safety-focused, organized, and committed to delivering exceptional workmanship on every project.
Salary
$75,000-$95,000 per year, based on experience.
Responsibilities
• Supervise and lead asphalt paving crews on commercial, municipal, county, and highway projects
• Coordinate daily paving operations to ensure projects are completed safely, efficiently, and on schedule
• Direct paver, roller, skid steer, milling, and support equipment operations
• Read and interpret project plans, specifications, and grade requirements
• Ensure proper mat quality, joint construction, density, and overall workmanship
• Coordinate trucking, plant production, and field operations to maximize productivity
• Conduct daily safety meetings and enforce company safety policies
• Train, mentor, and develop crew members
• Communicate effectively with project managers, superintendents, inspectors, and customers
• Complete daily reports and document production, delays, and equipment issues
• Monitor equipment condition and coordinate maintenance needs
Preferred Qualifications
• Experience leading asphalt paving crews
• Strong knowledge of paving operations, equipment, and best practices
• Ability to read plans, grades, and project specifications
• Excellent leadership, communication, and problem-solving skills
• Strong focus on safety, quality, and production
• Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment
• Valid driver's license (CDL is a plus)
