What is the role of the Asphalt Paving Division? The Asphalt Paving Division is in the Construction Group. Our paving crews place asphalt on our jobs all throughout the low country. Our crews will do anything - commercial/private jobs to interstate jobs.
What is an Asphalt Paving Foreman? The Paving Foreman runs grading crews and ensures the project is properly planned, staffed, and equipped.
What you will get to do:
  • Responsible for the interpretation of the construction drawings and specifications related to the Project.
  • Utilize knowledge of mix types, codes and their applications, along with a familiarity of the Supplemental Technical Specifications SC - M - 400 - HMA Quality Assurance
  • Recognize the differences between mainline and low tonnage asphalt application, using knowledge of temperature restrictions, required thickness rates, etc. to ensure accuracy on the project.
  • Inspect work progress, equipment, or construction sites to verify safety or to ensure that specifications are met.
  • Train workers in construction methods, operation of equipment, safety procedures, or company policies.
  • Locate, measure, and mark site locations or placement of structures or equipment, using measuring and marking equipment.
  • Confer with managerial or technical personnel, other departments, or contractors to resolve problems or to coordinate activities.
  • Direct crew members as to the proper procedures to build the job safely, on time and under budget.
  • Work directly with the Project Superintendent to ensure client needs are being met.
  • Record information, such as personnel, production, or operational data on specified forms or reports.
  • Suggest or initiate personnel actions, such as promotions, transfers, or hires.
