Job description

The Specialty Products Area Manager is responsible for overseeing sales, distribution, and marketing of specialty products within a designated territory. This role involves driving revenue growth, building relationships with clients, and ensuring customer satisfaction through targeted solutions. The Area Manager will strategize and execute plans to maximize product visibility and penetration in the assigned area which will initially be focused on Minnesota government agencies (state and local) and as well as contractors.

Essential Functions
  • Market Analysis and Strategy
  • Monitor competitor activities and market trends to develop and adjust commercial strategies
  • Work closely with marketing and product teams to create localized promotional activities
  • Provide feedback and insights on customer needs to guide product development
  • Sales and Revenue Growth
  • Develop and execute strategies to meet or exceed sales goals for AMI products, with an emphasis on our Specialty Product portfolio
  • Analyze market trends, agency budgets, and other relevant data to identify growth opportunities and optimize sales approaches
  • Develop and deliver technical value propositions to educate potential customers on the value provided by our technologies and working with AMI
  • Maintain accountability for area revenue targets and key performance indicators (KPIs)
  • Team Collaboration and Development
  • Collaborate with AMI sales team, as well as cross-functional AMI teams, to strengthen our culture and grow our business
  • Set performance goals, conduct regular reviews, and implement improvement plans as needed
  • Foster a positive team environment and mentor, based on skillset, for professional growth of team
  • Solve business problems independently and in conjunction with the cross functional business team
  • Relationship Management
  • Build and maintain strong relationships with key agency clients, contractors, and equipment manufacturers
  • Interacting with agency and contractor decision makers on a construction site
  • Address customer inquiries, resolve issues, and ensure stakeholder satisfaction
  • Participate in industry events, trade shows, and networking opportunities to promote the brand
  • Operational Oversight
  • Manage the budget for the area, ensuring effective use of resources
  • Collaborate with logistics and operations teammates to ensure availability of products for projects
  • Ensure compliance with company policies, industry regulations, and safety standards
  • Reporting and Analysis
  • Track and report sales activities, pavement preservation and recycling market conditions, and competitor actions
  • Provide regular updates to teammates and leadership on opportunities, area performance, and key initiatives
  • Maintain accurate records and analyze sales data
  • Additional duties and responsibilities as assigned, including but not limited to continuously growing in alignment with the Company’s core values, competencies, and skills
Education Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s Degree in business, engineering, or a related field is preferred
Experience Qualifications
  • 5+ years in sales or management roles, ideally within the field of construction materials
  • Experience with roadway agency procurement contract
Skills and Abilities
  • Customer focused with a commitment to customer satisfaction and relationship building
  • Excellent written, verbal and interpersonal communication skills
  • Presentation development and delivery skills
  • Comfortable with technology needed to host and participate in virtual meetings
  • Proficiency in CRM software, Microsoft Office Suite, and data analysis tools
  • Proven track record in meeting or exceeding sales targets
  • Strong strategic and economic thinking with ability to analyze market trends and develop competitive strategies
  • Results oriented and driven to achieve goals and meet targets consistently and adapt strategies as needed
  • Skilled at identifying issues and developing effective solutions through effective problem-solving

  • Willingness to travel within the assigned area as needed, usually 30-60% depending on the time of year
