In this role, you will use AutoCAD and related tools to create exhibits, drawings, and datasets that support client planning, project development, and regulatory submittals.

This is a deadline-driven role that requires strong communication, dependable follow-through, and the ability to work independently while staying connected to the team. Candidates should be comfortable working during standard business hours generally aligned with Mountain Time, and during peak project periods, additional hours, including occasional evenings or weekends, may be required to support project deadlines.

This is a fully remote role within a small, collaborative team environment, offering no daily commute and exposure to a range of workflows, datasets, and adjacent disciplines, including surveying, remote sensing, GIS, civil engineering, and permitting.

What We Offer

  • Competitive pay and bonus opportunity
  • Health, dental, and vision coverage, 401(k) match, paid time off, and paid holidays
  • Fully remote work environment
  • Support complex, highly regulated energy planning and permitting projects
  • Work alongside surveying, engineering, GIS, drafting, and permitting professionals while gaining experience with geospatial tools and workflows
  • Join a team of sharp, collaborative people who care about doing great work and helping each other win

What You'll Do

  • Utilize AutoCAD to draft and QA/QC permitting and design exhibits, as well as review the work of others.
  • Prepare and edit survey drawings using AutoCAD (and Civil 3D when applicable).
  • Annotate survey data including bearings, distances, and coordinate information (lat/long, northing/easting).
  • Work within the PLSS (Public Land Survey System) to accurately depict land boundaries and survey elements.
  • Apply consistent standards for labeling, linework, and drawing clarity across all deliverables.
  • Utilize existing templates for exhibit creation.
  • Utilize Microsoft Excel to create spreadsheets and tables.
  • Edit GIS databases via AutoCAD FDO connection to update attributes and feature geometry.
  • Learn and apply rules, regulations, and client design specifications when drafting exhibits.
  • Edit and support written process documentation.
  • Track assigned work, budget, and timeline; communicate with the Coordinator to prioritize multiple tasks.
  • Communicate with team members, Coordinator, and Production Manager on workload status.
  • Identify opportunities to improve drafting quality, consistency, and efficiency.

Required Skills & Competencies

  • Intermediate proficiency with AutoCAD (Civil 3D is a plus).
  • Intermediate proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite (Outlook, Word, Excel, and PowerPoint).
  • Intermediate knowledge of oil and gas rules, regulations, equipment, and nomenclature.
  • High attention to detail and strong organizational skills.
  • Excellent communication and critical thinking skills.
  • Ability to work independently in a remote environment while staying engaged and connected with the team.
  • Ability to quickly learn new exhibits and workflows; adapts to changing priorities.
  • Strong multi-tasking and prioritization skills.
  • Team-oriented with a customer-focused mindset and the ability to work effectively with others.
  • Reliable, consistent, and relentlessly accountable.
  • Ability to respond in a timely manner and meet deadlines.

Bonus (Not Required)

  • Experience with alignment sheets or ROW packages.
  • Background in oil & gas or land surveying.

Required Education & Experience

  • High school diploma or GED.
  • 1+ year of work experience using AutoCAD.

Important Notes before Applying

  • We work as a collaborative remote team, so candidates should be comfortable staying connected through chat, video calls, screen sharing, and timely follow-up with coworkers and coordinators.
  • Candidates should be comfortable working within standard business hours that generally align with Mountain Time to support collaboration with internal teams and clients.
  • This role supports project deadlines, and during peak periods, additional hours, including occasional evenings or weekends, may be required.
  • Applicants will be asked to complete a short, practical AutoCAD skills exercise as part of the hiring process.

Working Conditions & Physical Requirements

  • Reliable internet access and a designated, quiet workspace are required.
  • Ability to sit and work at a computer for extended periods, including regular use of a keyboard, mouse, and multiple monitors.

Other Need-to-Know

  • Travel may be required on occasion for team collaboration, training, or project support.
  • Employment is limited to candidates authorized to work in the United States and able to work within continental U.S. time zones.
