We are currently seeking a highly experienced Industrial Hygiene Specialist to independently manage and execute asbestos, lead, mold, and general industrial hygiene project consulting assignments in the New Jersey / New York metro area.
Annual Salary Range: $40 - $55 per hour commensurate with experience and certifications
What You'll Do
  • Independently perform and manage air monitoring for asbestos abatement, lead, and mold remediation activities.
  • Conduct complex indoor air quality investigations, including sampling design and interpreting results related to water intrusion events.
  • Serve as the primary on-site representative for routine and non-routine site inspections, including comprehensive bulk sample collection.
  • Develop complete, high-quality technical reports, memos, and addendums, requiring minimal review from Project Management, to document site conditions and project-related issues.
  • Conduct job site health & safety inspections and identify/document potential hazards.
  • Interact directly with contractors and sub-contractors to coordinate site access and daily activities.
  • Mentor and train Junior Technicians on field procedures, safety protocols, and sampling techniques.
Minimum Qualifications
  • High School diploma required; AS or BS degree in a related field is strongly preferred.
  • Minimum of 3-5 years of direct experience performing asbestos, lead paint, IAQ/mold, and general industrial hygiene monitoring/inspections.
  • Strong oral and written communication skills with proven ability to draft professional technical reports.
  • Possession of a comprehensive combination of certifications (minimum of 3 of the following):
  • EPA AHERA / NYSDOL Asbestos Project Monitor and Air Sampling Technician
  • NYSDOL Mold Assessor
  • NJ/EPA/NY Lead Risk Assessor/Inspector
  • NYCDEP Asbestos Investigator
  • Thorough working knowledge of MS Office software and industry-specific software/databases.
  • Strong knowledge of applicable OSHA, EPA, and state/local regulations for asbestos, lead paint, etc.
  • Must be willing to travel to and from job sites within the NJ / NYC area.
  • Must be able to pass a physical exam and be medically cleared to wear negative pressure respirator.
  • Must be available to occasionally work night or weekend hours and/or extended shifts beyond 8 hours.
  • Must possess a valid driver's license and an acceptable driving record.
  • Must successfully pass a pre-employment drug test and will be subject to DOT-regulated random drug & alcohol testing.
Preferred Qualifications
  • OSHA 40-hour HAZWOPER certification.
  • Additional asbestos accreditations (e.g., EPA/NYSDOL Project Designer, Certified Safety Professional).
  • Experience performing health and safety oversight and/or construction management.
