Job Title: COBOL IBM i (AS/400) System Developer
Location: Concord, NH (Onsite)
Duration: 12 months with potential extension

Job Description:
We are looking for an IBM i (AS/400) System Developer to maintain and optimize COBOL-based applications on IBM i (AS/400) systems, troubleshoot and resolve technical issues, and contribute to strategic migration initiatives. This position will be full-time, onsite, and is a long-term contract opportunity.
What You'll Do
  • Maintain and optimize COBOL-based applications on IBM i (AS/400) to ensure system stability and performance
  • Troubleshoot and resolve application and system issues, identifying root causes and implementing effective solutions with minimal guidance
  • Manage and enhance batch jobs, file transfers, and integrations with other systems.
  • Monitor system health, job queues, and performance metrics (e.g., WRKACTJOB) to proactively address potential issues
  • Support SQL-based data access and ensure data integrity across applications
  • Collaborate with business analysts and stakeholders to clarify requirements and resolve technical issues
  • Develop and maintain clear and comprehensive documentation for programs, processes, and troubleshooting steps
  • Provide technical assistance for emulator-related issues (PC5250), print/output queues, and spool file management
  • Contribute technical expertise to the strategic migration from IBM i to Hyland's OnBase WorkView platform, including data transition planning, integration support, and operational continuity
  • ssist with user profile management, authority adjustments, and job scheduling
  • Support backup and restore processes (BRMS) and maintain operational runbooks
  • Participate in testing and validation activities during migration and system upgrades

What You'll Need
Required:
  • t least 5 years of development and support of COBOL applications on IBM i (AS/400)
  • t least 5 years of strong experience with CL, DDS, and DB2 for i (SQL)
  • t least 5 years of experience working with IBM i tools such as Access Client Solutions (Client) and Navigator
  • t least 5 years of experience with batch processing and job scheduling
  • bility to work on alternative schedules (e.g., non-business hours for planned maintenance, upgrades, urgent troubleshooting, and/or migration activities)
  • Exceptional communication skills
  • Preferred: Experience with Hyland's OnBase WorkView platform
