The Chicago College of Performing Arts/Roosevelt University is seeking a part-time instructor of directing to teach a brief summer class to graduate students in our Master of Arts in Theatre Directing program.
This is a 1.5 credit hour module that is part of a broader sequence of classes in directing and will consist of nine class sessions delivered to approximately 18 students. This class should address issues, strategies and practical techniques for the early-career director in rehearsing and staging Contemporary Plays. The instructor will be supported in crafting an effective lesson plan for this unique program.

June 22, 23 & 25
June 29, 30 & July 2
July 6, 7 & 9
Class meeting times: Mondays and Tuesdays from 3:45 to 5:45 p.m. and Thursdays from 8:30 to 10:45 a.m.
The salary for these nine class sessions: $1,991.00
Job Duties:
  • Online delivery of course material, including creating assignments and evaluation of students' work.
  • Clear and timely communication.
  • Timely submission of all grades.
  • Consistent usage of Roosevelt University email address (to be assigned upon onboarding).
  • Submission of a syllabus (university-mandated template will be provided) documenting all class policies, expectations, procedures, and grading criteria.

Working Conditions
Normal climate-controlled office environment is provided. Job is largely sedentary, but there is a need to move about the office and buildings frequently. Occasional bending, stooping, lifting, pushing and/or pulling is required (typically less than 10 pounds).
