Summary of Function
The Sanders Unified School District is seeking a passionate and dedicated Culinary Arts Teacher to inspire and educate students in the art of cooking and food management. The successful candidate will demonstrate a profound knowledge of culinary techniques, nutrition, and kitchen management, along with a commitment to fostering a positive learning environment that promotes creativity, collaboration, and critical thinking.
Qualifications include:
? Valid Arizona Department of Public Safety IVP Fingerprint Clearance Card - required.
? Bachelor's degree in culinary arts, Hospitality Management, Education, or a related field, Master's
(preferred).
- Valid teaching certification or ability to obtain certification in Arizona.
- Proven experience working in a professional culinary environment; teaching experience is a plus.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to connect with students and foster enthusiasm for culinary arts.
- Knowledge of food safety regulations and nutrition.
Ability to work collaboratively with colleagues, parents, and community members.
- Strong organizational and time-management skills.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
- Develop and implement a comprehensive curriculum that aligns with state standards and meets the diverse needs of students.
- Teach students various culinary techniques, food safety and sanitation practices, nutrition principles, menu planning, and kitchen management skills
- Create engaging lesson plans and hands-on cooking experiences that stimulate student learning and encourage student participation.
- Assess student performance through a combination of written assignments, practical skills assessments, and projects.
- Foster a positive and inclusive classroom environment that supports students' social, emotional, and academic growth.
- Collaborate with fellow educators and community stakeholders to enhance the culinary arts program and create opportunities for experiential learning, such as field trips, externships, and competitions.
- Maintain an organized and safe kitchen environment, ensuring compliance with health and safety regulations.
- Support students interested in pursuing advanced culinary education or careers in the culinary arts industry.
- Stay current with culinary trends, techniques, and educational best practices through professional development and networking.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
Working conditions
- The culinary Arts Teacher will work primarily in a classroom and commercial kitchen environment.
- The position may require occasional evening and weekend hours for special events, competition, or professional development.
- The work environment may include exposure to heat, steam, and strong kitchen odors.

Physical requirements
- Ability to stand for extended periods of time while instructing and demonstrating culinary techniques.
- Ability to lift and move equipment and materials weighing up to 50 pounds.
- Manual dexterity required for tasks such as chopping, mixing, and operating kitchen equipment.
- Ability to perform physical activities require considerable use of arms, legs and moving the whole body, such as cooking, cleaning, and stocking supplies.
