Definition of Classification
The University of Redlands, founded in 1907, is a private, independent liberal arts institution located in Redlands, California, in the heart of the Southern California Inland Empire. The University maintains a long-standing commitment to liberal arts education, experiential learning, and community engagement. Recognized as a Hispanic Serving Institution, approximately 40% of the University's students are first-generation college students. The University of Redlands seeks to prepare graduates who are thoughtful leaders, engaged citizens, and professionals capable of addressing complex societal challenges.
The School of Business & Society (SBS) prepares students to lead in a dynamic global economy through interdisciplinary learning, responsible leadership, and applied problem solving. The School integrates business education with social responsibility, technological innovation, and ethical decision-making, equipping students to navigate complex market environments and societal challenges. SBS faculty collaborate across disciplines to develop innovative programs that combine rigorous academic study with experiential learning, industry engagement, and community partnerships.
The School of Business & Society is home for the Banta Center for Ethical and Purposeful Leadership, which serves as a forum for conversation, inquiry, and research on the role of ethics and responsibility in modern business leadership. The Center promotes interdisciplinary scholarship, teaching, and community engagement that examine how organizations create value while acting responsibly toward society. Through speaker series, research initiatives, and faculty collaborations, the Banta Center advances the integration of ethical reasoning, leadership development, and responsible innovation within business education. Faculty frequently collaborate with the Center to explore issues such as ethical artificial intelligence, responsible innovation, governance of emerging technologies, and the societal implications of digital transformation.
SBS is also home to the Presidio Center for Sustainable Solutions, which advances interdisciplinary approaches to sustainability, responsible business practices, and the long-term stewardship of environmental and social resources. The Center provides opportunities for students and faculty to engage with sustainability challenges through applied learning, research collaborations, and partnerships with organizations working to address global environmental and social issues.
Further, SBS is home to the Woodbury Institute, an AACSB-accredited business program aligned with globally recognized standards in business education.
The School of Business & Society increasingly explores how ethical leadership must evolve in response to rapidly advancing technologies, ensuring that graduates are prepared to guide organizations responsibly through periods of technological transformation.
As artificial intelligence, advanced analytics, digital platforms, and automation reshape market systems and business strategy, the School seeks faculty who can help prepare students to navigate and lead in technology-enabled environments. SBS is committed to educating graduates who understand both the strategic potential and the ethical implications of emerging technologies. This includes examining how organizations can responsibly develop, deploy, and govern new technologies while creating sustainable value for customers, organizations, and society.
The School of Business & Society invites applications for a tenure-track faculty position in Marketing Strategy, Emerging Technologies, and Ethical Innovation at the rank of Associate Professor or Professor, commensurate with qualifications and experience. The position focuses on how emerging technologies are transforming contemporary marketing strategy, customer engagement, value creation, and market systems.
This position supports the School's strategic priorities in technology-enabled market transformation, responsible innovation, interdisciplinary program development, and experiential learning. The successful candidate will contribute to the development of innovative academic programs that integrate emerging technologies, including artificial intelligence, automation, digital platforms, and advanced analytics into contemporary marketing and business strategy.
The position is intentionally interdisciplinary and will collaborate closely with faculty across the School of Business & Society, including accounting, finance, analytics, management, and leadership to support integrated curriculum development and applied research initiatives. The successful candidate will play a leadership role in developing experiential learning opportunities, industry partnerships, applied research collaborations, and student engagement initiatives such as consulting projects, competitions, internships, and innovation labs that connect academic learning with real-world business challenges.
The faculty member will also contribute to emerging initiatives within the School focused on the integration of artificial intelligence, advanced analytics, responsible innovation, and sustainable business practices across business disciplines.
Through this work, SBS aims to strengthen its emerging leadership in the study of ethical innovation, technology-enabled markets, and responsible business transformation.
