Successful applicants will work with the campus art collection manager to support the packing, crating, transportation, and secure installation of the campus art collection. Responsibilities include, but are not limited to: safe handling, hanging and mounting of artworks, movement of artworks across campus, preparation of artworks for transportation to locations on and off campus, and working with artists on the installation of site-specific commissioned artworks. This position is for intermittent work scheduled on an as-needed basis with advance notice. Some assignments will require multiple art handlers while some will only require one.

A successful applicant must exhibit excellent communication and problem-solving skills and be detail oriented. The role will be required to occasionally work long hours including possible evenings and weekends as needed; requires successful completion of background check.

Minimum Qualifications

  • High School diploma or GED.
  • 1 year of relevant experience required.

Required Qualifications

  • 1 years of experience handling artwork in a museum, gallery, or contemporary art environment required.
  • Carpentry, construction, and/or fabrication experience required.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills required.
  • Ability to lift and move objects weighing 50 pounds or more.
  • Comfortable working at height and able to safely operate lifts and use ladders as needed.
  • Commitment to following established safety protocols and procedures.
  • Proficiency with hand and power tools, including drills, levels, hammers, and pallet jacks.
  • Ability to support artwork installation, handling, and fabrication tasks with attention to detail and care.

Desired Qualifications

  • 3 years of experience handling artwork in a museum, gallery, or contemporary art environment required.
  • In-depth knowledge of contemporary art is strongly preferred.

The Targeted Hiring Range for this position is $15.86 - $20.74. The actual salary paid to an individual will vary based on multiple factors, including but not limited to, education, years of experience, internal equity, etc.
