Position Summary
The Foreman is responsible for leading field crews in the installation, maintenance, and upgrade of roadway electrical infrastructure, including traffic signal systems, highway lighting, and related underground and overhead systems. This role provides direct, hands-on supervision while ensuring work is completed safely, efficiently, and in compliance with project specifications, company standards, and applicable regulatory requirements.
The Foreman serves as the primary field leader responsible for daily execution, crew productivity, quality control, and coordination with project leadership across roadway and DOT construction projects of varying size and complexity.

Essential Duties
  • Lead, supervise, and coordinate daily activities of field crews
  • Install and oversee installation of:
    • Traffic signal systems (mast arms, strain poles, signal heads, controllers, detection systems)
    • Roadway and highway lighting systems
    • Underground conduit, duct banks, pull boxes, and handholes
    • ITS and communication systems
  • Read and interpret construction drawings, specifications, and traffic control plans
  • Plan daily work activities, sequencing, and crew assignments
  • Coordinate with General Foreman, Superintendent, Project Manager, and inspectors
  • Monitor crew productivity and adjust resources to meet schedule and budget
  • Ensure all work meets quality standards and complies with applicable codes
  • Conduct daily job briefings, safety meetings, and Job Hazard Analyses (JHAs)
  • Track and report daily production, manpower, and job progress
  • Manage materials, tools, and equipment usage on site
  • Identify and resolve field issues, conflicts, and constructability challenges
  • Ensure proper traffic control setup and safe work zones
  • Train, mentor, and develop crew members and apprentices

Minimum Qualifications (Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities)
  • High school diploma or GED required
  • 5-8+ years of experience in roadway electrical construction, traffic signals, or lighting systems
  • 2-3+ years of leadership or Foreman experience preferred
  • Strong knowledge of:
    • Traffic signal systems and controls
    • Roadway lighting systems
    • Underground conduit and utility installation
    • Electrical codes and DOT specifications
  • Ability to read and interpret construction drawings and specifications
