Are you a self-starter with a proven track record of growing sales, leading teams, and developing business across Latin America? We're looking for a Director of Sales to oversee our LATAM sales operations, build long-term customer relationships, and drive profitable growth. This role offers the opportunity to lead an established team while helping expand our presence in key international markets.

Location

This is a hybrid role with a preference for candidates based in the Houston area; however, candidates located in Texas, Louisiana, or Florida will also be considered. This position requires the ability to travel 25%–50% to visit customers in Central and South America.

Position Summary

The mission of the Director of Sales is to lead SolvChem's International Distribution sales strategy by building market share, driving profitable revenue growth, developing high-performing sales teams, strengthening customer relationships, and ensuring the division consistently achieves or exceeds profit targets.

Key Responsibilities
  • Lead sales initiatives for SolvChem's International Distribution Division to build market share, drive profits, and exceed plan goals for LATAM.
  • Manage the P&L for SolvChem's International Distribution Division for LATAM.
  • Consistently deliver revenue targets and ensure company revenue goals and objectives are achieved quarter over quarter and year over year.
  • Accurately forecast quarterly and annual revenue for the assigned division, region, or business area.
  • Drive revenue growth, and profitability through strategic sales execution.
  • Identify and develop key strategic accounts to support long‑term growth.
  • Develop end‑use market strategy within designated countries and focused on LATAM.
  • Own supplier relationships for domestic and international chemical manufacturers, distributors, and resellers.
  • Manage direct reports across Outside Sales, Inside Sales, and Sales Support current team of 6.
  • Set clear expectations, prioritize efforts, and hold the sales team accountable for building pipeline and executing each phase of the sales cycle.
  • Mentor and develop direct reports through training, coaching, performance feedback, problem resolution, and work allocation.
  • Build a highly functional team dynamic and trusting culture.
  • Hire, develop, and retain top performers to support scalability, customer intimacy, and performance excellence.
  • Implement an organizational structure that supports continuous improvement in sales and customer service.
  • Maintain strong customer and key account relationships.
  • Direct sales activities within assigned areas to support pipeline growth and sales cycle execution.
  • Ensure sales efforts are aligned with customer needs, business goals, and profitability expectations.
  • Promote customer intimacy by supporting strong account relationships and responsive customer service.
  • Partner with internal teams to improve sales effectiveness, customer service, and execution quality.
  • Continuously evaluate sales practices and identify opportunities for innovation, improvement, and stronger business results.
Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree in business administration, finance, or a related discipline preferred.
  • Bilingual in English/Spanish required.
  • Minimum of 5 years of experience building and leading front‑line sales teams in LATAM.
  • Minimum of 10 years of chemical distribution sales experience.
  • Experience selling Alcohols, Aliphatics, Amines, Aromatics, Esters, Glycols, Ketones, Plasticizers, Surfactants, etc.
  • Ability to travel 25%–50% to visit customers.
  • Proven history of overachieving team quotas and driving revenue growth required.
  • Advanced working knowledge of Microsoft Office programs, including Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook, required.
