Job Summary:
The Material Handler / Hi Lo Driver & General Laborer supports daily CNC machining operations by safely transporting materials, maintaining production flow, and assisting with general labor tasks throughout the facility. This role is responsible for operating a hi lo (forklift) to move raw materials, tooling, work in process, and finished goods, ensuring that production areas remain stocked and organized. The position also performs basic labor duties that contribute to a clean, efficient, and safe manufacturing environment. This role is essential to keeping machining operations running smoothly by reducing downtime, supporting quality and shipping processes, and maintaining strong communication with machine operators, supervisors, and other departments.
Essential Functions:

  • Safely operate a hi lo (forklift) to move materials throughout the CNC machining plant.
  • Open, close, load and unload pallets, trucks, trays, racks and shelves (requiring minor manual hand-by-hand work).
  • Verify incoming and outgoing shipments. Prepare shipments for next shift and next day deliveries.
  • Deliver raw materials, tooling, and components to CNC machines and workstations.
  • Remove completed parts and transport them to the next stage of production or inspection.
  • Assist with chip disposal and cleaning, scrap handling, and recycling processes.
  • Perform general labor tasks such as sweeping, organizing, and maintaining 5S standards.
  • Support packaging, tagging, labeling, and preparing finished goods for shipment and all materials.
  • Maintain accurate counts when staging or moving materials.
  • Follow all safety procedures, PPE requirements, tagging requirements, inventory requirements, and equipment guidelines.
  • Report material shortages, damaged goods, or safety concerns promptly.
  • Reads work order or follows oral instructions to ascertain materials or containers to be moved.
  • install strapping, bracing, or padding to prevent shifting or damage in transit, securing lifting attachments to materials or equipment as necessary
  • Counts, weighs, and records number of units of materials moved or handled on daily production sheet.
  • Stacks or assembles materials into bundles and bands bundles together.
  • Lifts heavy objects by hand or with power hoist, and cleans work area, machines, and equipment to assist machine operators.
  • Makes simple adjustments or repairs such as realigning belts or replacing rollers.
  • Assembles crates to contain products such as machines or vehicles.
  • Shovels loose materials such as sand, gravel, metals, plastics, or chemicals, into machine hoppers or into vehicles and containers such as wheelbarrows, scrap truck, or barrels.
Minimum Qualifications:
  • Experience operating a hi lo/forklift in a manufacturing environment.
  • Ability to lift and move materials safely throughout the shift.
  • Strong communication skills with all workers and leadership members.
  • Ability to work in a fast paced environment.
  • Commitment to safety, teamwork, and maintaining a clean work area.
Education & Experience
  • High school diploma or general education degree (GED) and one to three months related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
Background Prerequisites:
Must undergo and meet company standards for background check, employment verification, reference checks, physical, and controlled substance testing.
Preferred Qualifications:
  • Basic understanding of manufacturing workflows; CNC machining exposure is a plus.
Working Conditions and Physical Demands
