What is an arena?

Arena jobs refer to employment positions within sports or entertainment arenas. These jobs can range from roles in event management, security, concessions, ticket sales, maintenance, and technical support, to positions related to marketing and guest services. Arena employees are essential to ensuring events run smoothly and attendees have a positive experience. The work environment is often fast-paced, requiring good communication skills and the ability to handle large crowds. Hours can vary, especially as many events take place on evenings and weekends.

What are the key skills and qualifications needed to thrive as an arena manager?

To thrive as an Arena Manager, you need expertise in facility operations, event management, and budgeting, often supported by a degree in facility management, business administration, or a related field. Familiarity with venue management software, scheduling systems, and safety compliance certifications is typically required. Strong leadership, problem-solving, and communication skills help you effectively manage staff, coordinate events, and address client needs. These skills are critical to ensuring smooth operations, high-quality events, and a safe, customer-focused environment.

What are some common challenges faced by arena managers in maintaining event readiness and facility safety?

Arena Managers are often tasked with the complex responsibility of ensuring that the venue is always event-ready while maintaining strict safety standards. They must coordinate with multiple departments—such as operations, security, maintenance, and event staff—to address last-minute changes, unexpected repairs, or compliance issues. Balancing event schedules, managing large teams, and responding quickly to emergencies are frequent challenges. Successful Arena Managers excel at proactive planning, clear communication, and quick problem-solving to keep operations running smoothly.

About Arena Club

Arena Club is building the number one digital marketplace for collectibles. We started by reinventing the hobby with the first-ever digital card show, and we are expanding into new categories so collectors can buy, sell, grade, and showcase everything they care about in one place. Spearheaded by 5x World Series Champion Derek Jeter and serial entrepreneur Brian Lee, our fully digital marketplace is grounded in trust, transparency, and fun, featuring grading and authentication, vaulting, and digital pack openings that let collectors build and display their collections in a personalized online showroom from anywhere in the world.

About the Role

We're seeking a General Manager, New Categories to build and scale a new business from the ground up. Every category we launch is a business in its own right, with its own customers, suppliers, economics, and growth story. This is a unique opportunity to build and own one end-to-end. A founder's role with a platform behind it: the strategy, the team, the inventory, and the P&L are all yours. The mandate is simple: launch a category, prove the model, and scale it into a meaningful part of the marketplace. We're looking for a builder over a specialist, a high-agency operator who can turn a blank page into a real, growing business and who wants the accountability that comes with it.

What You'll Do
  • P&L Ownership: Own the full economics of multiple new categories, from topline GMV and margin to everything underneath, with the authority to set strategy, direct spend, and make the final call on category direction
  • Category Strategy: Define each category's vision and roadmap from scratch, including market positioning, assortment, price-point strategy, inventory targets, and the goals your team is measured against
  • Strategic Sourcing: Build and scale relationships with manufacturers, authorized dealers, and leading secondary-market players, and personally negotiate and close the deals that keep a pipeline of high-demand inventory flowing
  • Team Leadership: Hire the team behind each category, from supply to marketing, and develop them as the business scales
  • Demand Generation: Partner with Marketing to own the acquisition strategy for your categories, from new-user growth to brand presence, ensuring demand keeps pace with your topline
  • Product Strategy: Work with Product to design the drops and pack experiences that bring each category to life and keep collectors coming back, then manage every release live to deliver projected business outcomes
  • Operational Delivery: Partner with Operations and Accounting so inventory moves seamlessly from sourcing through authentication, vaulting, and delivery, and every customer experience, from purchase to retrieval, runs flawlessly
Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree in Business, Finance, Economics, or a related field
  • 6+ years in high-growth commerce, management consulting, or a comparable path with a strong foundation in business and strategy
  • Comfort owning a P&L, including forecasting, margin management, and inventory planning
  • Strong quantitative skills, including financial modeling, unit economics, and lifetime-value analysis, with the ability to set clear KPIs
  • Proven ability to lead and influence across Marketing, Product, Operations, and Finance without relying on direct authority
  • A track record of zero-to-one work, launching, building, or scaling a business, product, or function from the ground up
  • Sharp negotiation skills and the ability to build trust and rapport with external partners
  • A bias toward action and genuine comfort being accountable for outcomes
  • Excellent communication, organization, and follow-through
The Arena Club Standard

Life at Arena Club isn't for the faint of heart, and that's by design. We're building products and experiences the collectibles world has never seen. This is a proving ground. It demands your best every single day, because anything less means you're falling behind.

From day one, you're in the game. Trusted to deliver, expected to own outcomes, and driven to raise the bar higher than you thought possible. We don't just execute, we innovate, compete, and win together. That's how real breakthroughs happen.

If you want routine or predictability, you won't find it here. But if you're ambitious, relentless, and hungry to prove yourself on a team built to dominate — step into the arena. You'll discover growth and reward here, unlike anywhere else.
