What is an arena?

Arena jobs refer to employment positions within sports or entertainment arenas. These jobs can range from roles in event management, security, concessions, ticket sales, maintenance, and technical support, to positions related to marketing and guest services. Arena employees are essential to ensuring events run smoothly and attendees have a positive experience. The work environment is often fast-paced, requiring good communication skills and the ability to handle large crowds. Hours can vary, especially as many events take place on evenings and weekends.

What are the key skills and qualifications needed to thrive as an arena manager?

To thrive as an Arena Manager, you need expertise in facility operations, event management, and budgeting, often supported by a degree in facility management, business administration, or a related field. Familiarity with venue management software, scheduling systems, and safety compliance certifications is typically required. Strong leadership, problem-solving, and communication skills help you effectively manage staff, coordinate events, and address client needs. These skills are critical to ensuring smooth operations, high-quality events, and a safe, customer-focused environment.

What are some common challenges faced by arena managers in maintaining event readiness and facility safety?

Arena Managers are often tasked with the complex responsibility of ensuring that the venue is always event-ready while maintaining strict safety standards. They must coordinate with multiple departments—such as operations, security, maintenance, and event staff—to address last-minute changes, unexpected repairs, or compliance issues. Balancing event schedules, managing large teams, and responding quickly to emergencies are frequent challenges. Successful Arena Managers excel at proactive planning, clear communication, and quick problem-solving to keep operations running smoothly.

What is the difference between Arena vs Ticketing Agent?

AspectArenaTicketing Agent
CredentialsEvent management experience, sometimes certifications in event planningCustomer service skills, sales experience, sometimes certification in ticketing systems
Work EnvironmentEvent venues, stadiums, arenas during eventsTicketing offices, box offices, customer service counters
Industry UsageSports, concerts, large eventsTicket sales, customer service, event access management

While both roles are involved in event access, an Arena typically manages the overall event operations and logistics, whereas a Ticketing Agent focuses on selling tickets and assisting customers with ticket purchases. The Ticketing Agent role is more customer service-oriented, often working in ticket offices, while Arena staff oversee the event experience on-site.

If you’d like to join a team that’s people-first, diverse, innovative, and energized about delivering extraordinary fan experiences to our guests, then
we’d love to sign you to a player’s contract!

THE POSITION

Club Red Brand Ambassadors play a key role in shaping the in-arena fan experience at Scotiabank Saddledome. As the front-line representatives of Club Red, this position is responsible for creating high energy, engaging interactions with fans while driving measurable growth in program membership.

Ambassadors bring the Club Red brand to life through game-day and event activations, proactively engaging fans, building excitement, and converting interest into registrations. This role blends fan engagement with a sales mindset—requiring confidence, enthusiasm, and the ability to clearly communicate value and encourage sign-ups.

Success in this role is defined by the ability to create memorable fan experiences while consistently contributing to Club Red membership growth. This is a fast-paced, high-energy environment where strong communication, initiative, and a passion for connecting with people are essential.

KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES

  • Set up and tear down Club Red activation booths in alignment with gameday and event timelines
  • Prepare and maintain all prizing, materials, and equipment to ensure a seamless activation experience
  • Proactively engage fans in high-traffic environments to generate interest in Club Red
  • Promote Club Red membership and actively convert fan interactions into sign-ups through engaging conversations and clear calls-to-action
  • Educate fans on Club Red benefits, contests, and rewards, tailoring messaging to different audiences
  • Identify opportunities to engage hesitant fans and confidently overcome objections to encourage participation
  • Execute interactive elements such as prizing, games, and QR code engagement to maximize participation
  • Maintain brand standards through booth presentation, cleanliness, and consistent messaging
  • Collaborate with teammates to manage fan flow and deliver a smooth, high-quality activation experience
  • Communicate effectively with supervisors and team members, escalating issues as needed
  • Support a safe environment by following all safety policies and procedures

THE INDIVIDUAL

The ideal individual will have the following background:

  • Outgoing, energetic personality with a passion for engaging with fans and delivering exceptional experiences
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with confidence approaching and interacting with large, diverse crowds
  • Comfortable in a promotional or sales-oriented role, with the ability to influence and drive action
  • Proactive, self-motivated, and able to take initiative in a fast-paced environment
  • Team-first attitude with a willingness to collaborate and support overall game-day operations
  • High level of enthusiasm and comfort working in lively, high-traffic settings
  • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail in maintaining activation spaces and materials
  • Flexible availability, including evenings, weekends, and game days
  • Previous experience in customer service, events, promotions, or sales is considered an asset

This position will remain open until a suitable candidate is found.
