POSITION TYPE: Part Time, Non-Exempt

Position Overview

As a Part-Time Usher, you will be a key member of our Guest Experience team, responsible for creating a safe, welcoming, and memorable experience for all visitors at SAP Center and Tech CU Arena. You'll uphold our Team Teal Pioneering Principles and serve as a front-line ambassador of Sharks Sports & Entertainment. This position is represented by SEIU Local 1877 and is subject to the terms and conditions of the applicable collective bargaining agreement.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Consistently provide a high level of customer service by answering any questions guests have regarding directions, events, or parking.
  • Assist with the security screening of guests to ensure a safe environment for all guests in attendance
  • Properly enforce the building entry and exit policies and enforcement of the prohibited items list.
  • Scans tickets at arena entry points and verifies tickets at aisles to ensure guests are seated correctly in the appropriate section.
  • Tours assigned area to monitor and assist guests in their seating area with concerns or questions.
  • Ensures proper access to Club and Lounge premium service areas, providing a high level of service.
  • Ensures proper access to floor seating area for ticketed and general admission events.
  • Assists with WCA and ASL guest seating areas, briefing guests upon arrival of emergency procedures.
  • Monitors Penthouse Terrace, Plazas, and suites to ensure proper access, assists as appropriate to enhance the hospitality experience.
  • Helps keep assigned area clean and free of debris.
  • Perform additional duties as assigned to support departmental and organizational needs

Minimum Qualifications

  • Ability to work various shifts, weekends, possibly holidays, and late nights.
  • Demonstrated situational awareness skills to be able to identify issues and opportunities.
  • Able to read, comprehend and articulate ticket information.
  • Must be able to think critically and articulate directions to guests.
  • Ability to work effectively with a variety of guests to ensure all needs are met.
  • Be able to communicate information in a positive manner, even when the others are not positive.
  • Must be dependable by maintaining acceptable attendance and punctuality.
  • Ability to follow instructions.
  • Must be able and willing to work a minimum of two-thirds (2/3) of scheduled shifts each month.

Physical Requirements

  • Ability to sit, stand, walk, stoop, and crouch for extended periods of time with or without accommodation.
  • Ability to bend at the waist, reach overhead and lift up to 25 lbs with or without accommodation.
  • Physically navigate stairs and catwalks at SSE facilities during normal work hours and events with or without accommodation.
  • Ability to go up and down stairs multiple times in a shift with or without accommodation.
  • Ability to stand for long periods of time indoors and outdoors with or without accommodation.
  • Required to wear a company-issued uniform and maintain a professional appearance in accordance with company standards.
  • Ability to work in varying environmental conditions, including exposure to a range of temperatures (indoor, outdoor, and cold environments), with extended periods spent in proximity to ice rink and arena conditions with or without accommodation.
  • Ability to work in environments with bright lighting and event-related special effects (including smoke, flashes, and flame effects), as well as exposure to consistently high noise levels during events with or without accommodation.
