Responsibilities

The Computer Specialist is a key member of the Asset Management team and is responsible for ensuring the resources supporting Operations and Engineering personnel are functional and continually improving within their area of responsibility. This role requires strong computer skills, a level of initiative to work independently on long term project goals, and the ability to effectively communicate and collaborate with various stakeholders. The Computer Specialist plays a critical role in support of Essential Operating Disciplines.ย 

Job Responsibilities

  • Serve as the primary operations resource for basic troubleshooting and maintenance of the Distributed Control Systems (DCS).
  • Assist the DCS engineer with basic configuration changes, tuning, HMI changes, etc. as needed.
  • Prepare and support equipment monitoring routes and mobile devices used to complete these routes.
  • Support electronic logbook tools for operations.
  • Maintain and troubleshoot the process historian and create new data points as needed.
  • Create and maintain PI Vision displays and manage security to PI Vision.
  • Maintain the alarm database and update as needed.
  • Maintain area security groups and add / remove personnel as needed.
  • Manage and execute DCS software and security updates for the area.
  • Serve as area ROL designee and assume responsibility for ICS Security.
  • Perform special projects and job duties as identified or as assigned.
Qualifications

Required Qualifications

One of the following:

  • NICET Level 1 certification, ISA Certified Control Systems Technician (CCST), Associate or Certification in Computer Professionals, or CompTIA A+ certificationย 
    OR
    anย Associate degree in Chemical Technology, Computer Information & Science, Drafting, Electrical, Electronics, Industrial, Instrumentation, Machine Tool, Mechanical, or Welding from an institution accredited by the American Council on Education, or an equivalent technical degree.
  • Excellent computer skills, including experience with Microsoft Office suite (PowerPoint, Excel, Word & Outlook)
  • Strong working knowledge of MS Windows based personal computers including software, hardware, and programming.
  • Basic understanding of networking infrastructure, hardware, and MS Windows security.

  • Excellent written and verbal communication skillsย

  • Ability to manage and execute work on a set schedule with limited supervision.
