Job description

The Ideal Candidate

As the Visual Merchandising Specialist, you will be responsible for presenting Johnston & Murphy products in store environments according to the J&M guidelines to maximize sales with guidance and direction from the Senior Visual Merchandise Manager as well as the Marketing, Merchandising, Store Operations teams. This includes managing monthly floorset & seasonal planogram set-up as well as write documentation for selected area of focus. Referencing store floorplans, marketing calendars, sales reporting, and other resources along with time management and attention to detail will be key to your success.

How You Will Make an Impact

  • Manages development of floorsets & planograms (determines window display details, coordinates sample needs, completes presentation set-up, shoots required photography, and documents memos, floorsets & planograms) for selected area of focus.
  • Supports Senior Visual Merchandising Manager in developing seasonal display calendar, and visual guidelines as well as fixture, props, sign & store design to maximize sales.
  • Develops strong working relationships across departments & store teams to support development of visuals throughout brand.
  • Collaborates with key team members across departments on key initiatives.
  • Develops & trains stores' Visual Merchandising guidelines.
  • Maintains visual sample room inventory and showroom presentation.
  • Maintains seasonal calendars, distribution lists, and the sign library.
  • Follows up on store visuals and fulfilment in a timely manner through e-mail, brand social media platform, and store visits.
  • Owns document management on internal portal & social media platforms.
  • Communicates to the field any updates in presentation and promotions.
  • Manages key fixture & sign inventories and orders as needed to ensure these elements are available for store openings, remodels & relocations.
  • Supports Sr. Visual Merchandising Manager in in-store music selection & in-store music challenges.
  • Provides visual support in Wholesale fixture development, fixture planograms, and tradeshows.
  • Supports stores with daily sign & fixture fulfillments while following up to ensure they arrive in a timely manner.
  • Processes & audits invoices.
  • Manages own travel and selects visual budgets & projections.
  • Works with store construction on barricade graphics and other display needs.
  • Actively participates in weekly construction & Marketing staff meetings.
  • Supports in other miscellaneous projects as needed.

Experience and Skills You'll Need to Have

  • Bachelors or Associates degree in Visual Merchandising, Fashion Merchandising or Interior Design preferred.
  • 5+ years of corporate level retail visual merchandising including floorset & memo documentation & hands-on mannequin detailing experience required.
  • Strong creative visual merchandising & story telling skills with emphasis on apparel & footwear.
  • The ability to drive business using current fashion trends while maintaining focus on commerciality of display.
  • Portfolio indicating past visual experience, documentation, and an understanding of mannequin dressing & window presentations.
  • Proficiency in Adobe Creative Suite (InDesign, Illustrator & Photoshop) & MS Office required.
  • Some photography experience preferred.
  • Possesses high energy, sense of urgency, strong positive attitude & passion for the Brand.
  • Seeks pertinent information from outside teams in collaborative manner.
  • Excellent communication skills (verbal & written).
