Computer Science & STEM Teacher (Grades 5โ€“8)

Location: Baltimore, Maryland
Position Type: Full-Time

Position Overview

Beth Tfiloh Dahan Community School is seeking a dynamic, creative, and enthusiastic educator to teach Computer Science and STEM to students in grades 5โ€“8. The successful candidate will inspire students through hands-on, project-based learning while fostering creativity, critical thinking, collaboration, and problem-solving.

This position includes teaching computer science and technology skills in grades 5โ€“6 and STEM courses in grades 6โ€“8. Our curriculum emphasizes practical technology skills, coding, engineering design, robotics, innovation, and teamwork.

ResponsibilitiesComputer Science (Grades 5โ€“6)

Teach and develop student proficiency in:

  • Digital learning platforms (Schoology)

  • Keyboarding and touch-typing

  • Microsoft Office applications, including:

    • Word

    • PowerPoint

    • Excel

  • Internet safety and digital citizenship

  • Introductory programming:

    • HTML and JavaScript (Grade 5)

    • Python (Grade 6)

STEM Education (Grades 6โ€“8)

Facilitate engaging, project-based learning experiences that include:

  • Engineering design challenges

  • CAD drafting and 3D printing

  • Robotics and automation

  • Arduino-based electronics and programming

  • Model building and prototyping

  • Research, innovation, collaboration, and presentation skills

  • Design thinking and real-world problem solving

Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree in Education, Computer Science, Engineering, Technology, or a related field

  • Teaching experience preferred

  • Experience with programming and educational technology

  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications

  • Experience with robotics, Arduino, CAD, makerspace activities, or related technologies is preferred
