Job description

Summer 2026 Architectural-Engineering Intern - Kennesaw, GA

Intertek's Building and Construction division is a suite of Intertek brands that are industry leaders across multiple architecture, engineering and construction disciplines, developing the most innovative product and project solutions. Intertek's project-related assurance, testing, inspection and consulting services are the risk management and quality assurance partner you need to ensure the reliability, safety and performance of your new developments, existing assets and facilities.

Intertek's Building Science Solutions (BSS) group is primarily focused on building enclosure consulting, commissioning, and field performance testing for new construction and retrofit projects.

What are we looking for?

We are seeking a motivated Intern to support our team with technical report writing, estimating, construction jobsite quality assurance visits, and building enclosure project design. This internship offers hands-on experience in field testing and exposure to industry-leading methodologies, making it an excellent opportunity for students interested in building sciences, engineering, or construction technology. 

Shift/Schedule: Monday-Friday, Full-time (schedule may vary based on candidate availability)

What you'll do:

  • Assist in drafting technical reports based on field data and test results

  • Assist in preparing estimates and proposals

  • Assist with drafting construction documents and details

  • Assist with business development needs, such as attending and scheduling events, creation of continuing educational programs, and writing media content

  • Support and provide construction administration and quality assurance services, including making visits to jobsites to observe construction and collect data for report writing

  • Maintain accurate and organized records of field activities including notes and taking photographs 

  • Assist and perform testing in the lab, including data collection and monitoring of testing as required

  • Support testing at construction and project jobsites, including setup of equipment, data collection, and support while running the test

  • Expected to travel based on the needs of the business

  • Ability to perform physical work relevant to areas of responsibility and as assigned

Minimum Requirements & Qualifications:

  • Currently pursuing an undergraduate degree in construction, architecture, or related engineering

  • Desire to learn about and gain hands-on experience with the building envelope including wall cladding systems, curtain wall, window and door systems, waterproofing, roofing, etc.

  • Strong problem solving and communication skills

  • Good computer skills - Microsoft Office & Outlook

  • Ability to read and understand construction drawings

  • Ability to perform work from ladders, boom-lifts, roof levels, etc.

  • Ability to routinely lift a minimum of 50 pounds, climb stairs and ladders, bend, crawl, push and pull as needed

  • Willingness to travel

  • Valid driver's license and a clean driving record

Preferred Requirements & Qualifications:

  • AutoCAD / Revit experience

  • Revu Bluebeam experience

  • General knowledge of basic steel and concrete design and construction practices
